  1. ((ooc: If you've read http://shadowlack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4929&st=0&#entry70589this</a> post, then you'll know what these auditions are all about, so you're welcome to bring your character down and try out!

Timestamp: 44 Mia 81380, after classes in the evening.))

As the door to the music room swung upon, and a dark-haired creature slunk through it carrying a red folder and a black rucksack, it was obvious that things were about to get a lot more interesting. He stumbled about in the dark for a few moments, before reaching the light switches and flicking them until electricity pulsed into the light fittings and the room was instantly banished of darkness. Pulling something from his school bag, the teenager unrolled a length of paper and wandered back over to the door. He propped it open with his foot, and then proceeded to stick the notice to the door. It merely read, in large, bold print, "ELECTROPONCE AUDITIONS HERE, 44 MIA, STRAIGHT AFTER CLASSES FINISH". Sure enough, Lysane had made his way to the room as soon as his last lesson of the day had drawn to a close. He was starving hungry, and relatively tired, which were quite bad things as Lys was probably going to be in the room for some time, listening to guitarists and drummers until he found three people that would fit into his beloved band.

Of course, as he'd raced down to the music practice room so quickly, no one was queuing up just yet. Stifling a yawn, Lysane sighed, running a hand through his thick black hair and then flopping into a chair, removing a magazine from his bag and beginning to read as he sat waiting.

  2. Matt had grabbed his guitar straight away as soon as he had heard of the auditions, he had finished his biokinesis class with ease. Forcing a plant to grow from seed to bloom in the space of an hour, was harder than it looked but not impossible.

Anyway he had headed to his dorm, given Jade a brief kiss then ran off with his guitar case.

His feet padded down the stairs and hallways with eager excitement, his tail swishing back and forth. A copy of the flyer in his hand, not only did he want to be in a band. But being in a band that had "ponce" in its name just made him laugh.

He slowed his breath and took a deep sigh before pushing the door open and sticking his head through to look inside.

"Not late am I" He said as he spied a shock blue arden. Hulking his stocky frame inside the room, and emitting a slight growl as his guitar case knocked into to door.

  3. Black leather jacket, check. Tight leather shorts, check. Leather boots all the way up to the knees, check. Sulphea slipped on a pair of expensive shades with a grin, regarding herself from different angles in the mirror. After she was sure that she was looking her best, she pulled on leather biker gloves and grabbed a large guitar case.

"The black leather look, always needed for a sucessful rock band" she chuckled to herself as she strolled confidently into the room.

After a few moments looking about the room she frowned "What, is it just us three?" she asked, looking at the clock "I thought with the popularity of rock music the dumb people who think they can play instruments would be bundleing in here"

  4. Nekhalla twiddled her drumsticks as she entered the room, a little late as usual, but no harm done. She nodded to the others in the waiting room and then sat down on the floor and started tapping away doing her standard warm up drills, which on that floor would drive anyone crazy if they listened for a long period of time. Her definition of a warmup were snare drills, which consisted of rolls, flamms, and general tapping. She was doing it in Marching Band style which was quite funny saying this was a try out for a rock band, it was the best way to warm up in her opinion though.

Her hair was pulled back in a low ponytail. She wore a new hat today, it was a white kitty hat with psycotic green eyes. Her outfit consisted of black slacks, a men's white tuxedo shirt and a black blazer. On her feet white socks and black formal shoes. She wore a pair of black goggles along with the hat. Her sticks were her lucky ones: metalic rainbow colored extra long. She smiled as she finished her first set of exercises. She looked up then realizing she might be annoying everyone.

<span style='color:red'>Er...Is this annoying anyone? I mean, I should of asked before I started...but better late then never right?</span>

  5. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Hmm."</span> Lysane contributed rather lamely, as his eyes continued to scan the remaining half of the current page of his magazine. Once he had finished the article, the pendragon slung the paper onto the plastic chair next to him and nodded in greeting to each of the three that had just entered the room. <span style='color:blue'>"I'm Lysane- the idiot holding these auditions."</span> he glanced at the latest to enter the room and smiled, shaking his head. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Fine by me."</span> he muttered, before picking up a clipboard with a sheet of lined paper and a pen stuck to it from his chair. <span style='color:blue'>"Okay, can I get your names and instruments first?"</span> he asked, seeming to referr to no one imparticular. He removed the lid from his black pen and waited for information to record.

  6. Pushing open the large door Cilea Finn walked into the music hall looking around to see who else had shown up, then realized that it looked like she was late and they had already started. She regretted letting herself take a nap after that test. She walked as fast as she could and took her place near the last person before her to show up.

She was kind of surprised to see only four other ‘dragons waiting in the room. When she noticed the other girls seemed to have a theme to their out fits she was a little disappointed with herself for not making an effort to throw on something more fitting for the situation. She was wearing the same things she had worn to class that day, baggy grey pants, a purple fitted T-shirt and her arm warmers since it was still pretty cold in some of the class rooms. She could say she was going for that sloppy punk look?

On her back was her electric keyboard, maybe not as cool as an electric guitar but it was her most skilled instrument and she wanted to look good at these try outs. She had never been nervous to play in front of people but when ever she played in front of someone who was listening for her mistakes she got butterflies in her stomach, but it couldnÂ’t be as bad as the last try out she had gone too.

When she had been walking in the door she heard that the male in front (who she assumed was running the try out) asked for their name and instrument. She quickly glanced around and not being once to hesitate she spoke first. “Cilea Fin. I play keyboard." Speaking clearly she pointed to the black instrument on her back.

  7. <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span>
<table class='ooc'><tr><td>sorry for the short post, I just got back from my hatchday party and am totally tired, but didnt want to end up being left out and forgotten =p</td></tr></table>

Sulphea chuckled as the other spoke, takeing up her electric guitar and swinging it over onto her sholder "Sulphea Monarchside. Electric guitar here, and pretty much any other string instrament you can name" she said, her voice filled with ego and confidence.

  8. <span style='color:red'>Nekhalla Vlunn, and if it can be hit with a stick I can play it, and I do custom clothing.</span>

She tapped her right stick to her head in a drummer's salute. She was confident in her skills, her last band broke down pretty fast, hopefully she'd get into this one and it'd last longer. She flipped her sticks nervously, it was an old habit that was impressive if it got really bad as she would do a bunch of full flips in succession.

    <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span>
    <table class='ooc'><tr><td>Gah short post >> brain not working...</td></tr></table>

  9. Matt wasnÂ’t really talking or doing anything, instead he was eyeing up the other people trying out for the audition. So far it looked like him and one other girl had brought guitars, last audition he had gone to was full of guitar players.

He looked over the other contestants and shook his head, two of them had gone for themes and it seemed only one other ad gone for the casual look. Matt was wearing 3/4 length black with white stitched pants, then some silver and black shirt that wasnÂ’t done up, so his chest was on display.

He was quite happy with the fact that he was the only guy here with a substantial build. Then being the only other guy there was also fun, not that he was looking for a girlfriend or anything. It was just eye candy.

He twiddled with his case and slid his guitar out and into his lap; his one was a little different. The strings were made up of energy, and it had various switches and buttons on it. It was his machna project really.

The strings could be taken away to turn it into a base, or he could add more to make a big base or a great electric guitar. It needed no amp and basically could do more than the average thing.

He nodded towards the new girl.

  10. ".. And... There! Finally! It's perfect!"

The brush lifted from the canvas, held neatly in the artist's hand. He was eying his latest creation; a beautiful setting sun over the beach, with the silhouette of a bird being seen flying off to the side. The picture was strikingly realistic, and was quite beautifully done. He picked the brush up once more, bringing it to the corner of the canvas and writing down "Koranu Kethar".

He then proceeded to wash the brushes off, putting the Canvas to the side as well. And, as he did, his clock would come back into view. A look of sheer shock and remorse would instantly overtake his features. At this rate... he'd be late! It was bad enough that he hadn't been going to many social events as of late, and has been shut in his room painting all day. But now he was going to miss out on a chance to stretch himself into the Social Fabric once more!

About half a minute after Cilea Fin had walked in, the doors swung open once more. Koranu would then step inside, calm and casual, without too much concern for being late. Mind you, he didn't carry a cocky look.

The look he did carry, however, was a sight. He was, undoubtedly, handsome, gifted with an almost perfect face and long, wavy blue hair. He defiantly had the face of a rock-star. And, standing at about Six-Three, with a decently kept frame, he defiantly fit the 'rocker' stereotype.

Though he'd normally be clad in calm clothes, this was different. Today, he had on a pair of blue jeans and a black, tight T-shirt. A pair of brown shoes were on his feet, matching the overall look. If he were to dress in leather, like everyone else here, it would not have worked for him. His body's design and style was not suited for it. This look, however, was just about perfect.

"...Koranu Kelthar. I bring my voice and my Guitar." And to anyone who knew anything about instruments, this next part would be the real icing on the cake. The black electric guitar he swung around from his back to his front was, in itself, a legend. It was probably a forty-year-old guitar, and still looked beautiful. The name brand, which would be equivalent to Earth's 'Fender Stratocaster', was the big thing about this guitar.

But this wasn't where the surprises ended. Koranu had a little extra talent which gave him the big jump over his opponents. It was what helped him to paint such beautiful pictures. It was, in truth, his rare trump card.

  11. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Not at all."</span> Lysane shrugged, writing down the names and instruments of everyone that had given him such information. He looked up at the students and put down his pen. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Are you guys fussed about playing in front of each other, or would you sooner wait outside for your turns?"</span> he asked. Lys wasn't that bothered himself- it wasn't like he lacked confidence. Whilst waiting for an answer, he glanced at the list. Three guitars, one drums and one keyboard. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Erm, do any of you guitar players play bass?"</span> Lysane added, realising that someone was going to have to go either way.

  12. <span style='color:red'>I'm fine either way...by the looks of it I'm the only drummer anyway...And yes I'm a former Band Geek if anyone asks.</span>

She had before had some hostilities toward her former occupation. Marching band and rock bands didn't seem to mix most of the time. To her it seemed strange though since you need skills from Marching Band to play drums. This also gave her the advantage of being able to play other instruments if necessary. She also had some skills in the arena of special effects for shows. Her Engineering centered brain made her build all kinds of things. pyro-technics were usually something you didn't want her to do as she was prone to catching things on fire.

  13. Orca grinned wolfishly as she picked up the auditions flyer off of the dorm hall floor - and then gasped as she looked at its time. Since she didn't need anything to sing, she just ran down to the music room as fast as she could, sliding down the banisters to go faster. Soon, she had made it. Orca opened ther door and waved.

Hey! Not to late to try out, am I? I'm Orca, and I'd be trying out for... back-up singer? Orca made a face and tried to make out the writing on ther flyer - a large foot had almost torn it in half, and had wrinkled it. She took a step over sideways and leaned against the wall, sizing up the compition. No other singers it seemed, but some of them has put on their punkiest outfits. Ocra looked down at herself; form fitting black jeans and a tight white tee-shirt proclaiming her motto - uberness - in maroon. Her black knapsack hung at her back and her jet-black hair was pulled into a loose messy bun. Orca noticed that she seemed to be the shortest one there, but she wasn't one to be bothered.

  14. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Nope."</span> Lys sighed slightly- not because he was annoyed or anything...simply because the effort of saying "Not At All", "Nope" and alike. Why couldn't people just be on time? Suddenly, he caught his brain thinking seriously, and blinked several times, before snapping out of the state and smiling, clapping his hands and in the process dropping the clipboard, which he didn't bother to pick up. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Are we all ready?"</span> he enquired, peering around at everyone. <span style='color:0099CC'>"I'd like to see what you guys are made of."</span> he smile was more of a cheeky, innocent smirk, as more hair flopped down into Lys' eyes.

  15. Cilea smiled at the arden that had nodded at her as she had been walking in, happy for any simple sign of acknowledgment, noticing that he was also in fairly causal attire. Also noticing his open shirt. After she had taken her place a few other hopefuls had proceeded to walk into the room. The first one in after her was another young arden looking very fitting for the situation.

“I don’t mine playing in front of everyone." she shrugged as she answered the question. Really she was interested in seeing what everyone else brought to the group. It looked as if there might be some tight competition for the guitar position. She had never realize how popular a band might be here at Janardan, why didn’t she think to start on herself? The mire thought of it brought a laughing smile to her face. Someone else walked in after that who was trying out for singing. Which made Cilea remember, she liked to sing as well. Should she bother mentioning it? It seemed that a few of them for mentioning there other talents. She could always mention her electrokinesis, that could add a spark to the show. Maybe later. She pulled her keyboard off her back and removed it from it’s case, showing that she was ready whenever everyone else was.

  16. I don't mind, I mean, if we get in we'll be singing in front of more than just fellow auditioners, so it seems to me auditioning with everyone here would be the best? Orca smiled and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, adding, Are we supposed to play/sing whatever, or are you going to give us something to preform?

She flicked her tail into view unconciously - the coal colored flame wavered slightly and lightened a little in color. Her wings, however, weren't all visible - in fact, they weren't even with her shirt off; she usually had them nonexistent when in school, she found they got in the way.

  17. Huff...Huff Running through the crowds the small Fey looked panicked. Her light aqua scales glinted in the hall light as she ran around peoples legs as fast as she could.

    <span style='color:aqua'>"Damn, Damn. I'm 'gunna be late!"</span>

She had books tucked loosely in her backpack that threatened to fall out, but she was in too much of a rush to realize. Her silver tail flame swirled with each flick of her tail movement. She wasn't fond of being so short but for squeezing into small spaces made it easier... As long as her tail didn't get stepped on that is. She slid passed peoples feet, through small openings until she saw the door to the auditions. She had been so stoked when the announcement of a band had spread around. When auditions were set up, she immediately knew she'd be there.

Smiling, her metallic silver eyes gazed up at the posted announcing the auditions.

    <span style='color:aqua'>"Here we are..."</span>

Reaching for the door handle she opened it to see there were quite a few people already there. Stepping in she seemed to bow an apology.

    <span style='color:aqua'>"Hello"</span>

    <span style='color:aqua'>"I'm Femp, Femp Gala. I'm so sorry IÂ’m late."</span>

She paused and took a deep breath. Her clear, crystal, blue insect wings flickered behind her slightly and she looked up at the people in the room. The 2'foot tall, 19 year old Fey'dragon wore loose jeans and a white shirt that said in bold black letters,

    <span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>"COME CLOSER,</span>
    <span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>{So I can slap you}"</span>

    <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span>
<table class='ooc'><tr><td> Ha ha. Yeah, my friend owns a shirt that says that. I LOVE that shirt... ^^'

OH! And when she gets up and does her thing.. don't expect me to write out lyrics... cuz... i can't... XD</td></tr></table>

  18. Matt was eyeing over everyone and their instruments when he saw the Koranu guy, he hated people like that, always posing and acting like they were five miles better than anyone else. He also hated the way they spoke, so overly the top dramatic it mad his ears bleed. In his opinion they were everything that was wrong with rock. But he didnÂ’t let it show; instead he just watched them all doing their own little preparation with eagle eyed interest.

He loved how mechanical things worked, they just fascinated him. It looked like a few other people had kewl instruments too; he would have loved to customize them all. But he doubted any would even let him near them.

He was getting more increasingly surprised at how many people had turned up, there were two other bands auditioning soon. One was about a coma something, and another was pyro something. Half of these people wouldnÂ’t make it so they would have to go to one of them or something.

Matt didnÂ’t really care either way, this glam rock band didnÂ’t suit him to well but he just wanted to play.

He walked up the stage and flicked a switch on his guitar, bass mode. Since now there were far more guitar players he couldnÂ’t be asked to get all competitive with them. He was probably as good as them too, despite how a few of them thought they were goods gift to music.

The neck of the guitar began to extend and the glowing blue strings of energy went with it. Soon it was the same size as a bass with 12 strings, perfect for pulling out the snapping and all the funny bass tricks. A few of the levers changed around too, but that was it.

"I play bass," he said with his deep, rolling voice that got the point across. He was ready to play when he got the cue; he wasnÂ’t exactly in a rush.

  19. Koranu, after introducing himself and catching his breath once more, moved over to the nearest table and leaned up against it. He'd bring one foot back and up onto a chair, and let his guitar rest over his leg. While people introduced themselves, he'd begin to put the guitar back into Standard tuning, having it originally tuned down half a step. Unlike the Machina Wonder, his guitar had real strings. And, due to that fact, it took a totally different style to get it to sound right. The 'twang' in new strings had to be beaten out.

Fortunately, he had already done that.

When Femp came in, however, Koranu's distant look would be broken. That and he had finished tuning the guitar back up to Standard, and seemed to remember that there were other people in the room. "... Ah, don't worry about it. I think we were all a l'il late." He gave a laugh and brought a hand up to scratch behind his head lightly. To be honest, he was just happy that he wasn't the only person who was late. It helped to bring off a bit of the pressure. If it was just him, he'd feel like the odd-man-out. This way, however, it didn't look so bad.

He brushed a hand back through his hair lightly, tucking a few strands out from his face, before looking around the room, taking in the scene and everyone who was there. He wasn't 'eying up the competition', as it were. He was just looking at how many people were here.

The one person who he didn't look at, however, was Matt.

It had nothing to do with Matt or his personality. Hell, Koranu didn't know anything about Matt. For all he knew, Matt could be a stand-up sort of guy. Koranu just hated Matt's guitar. The design and look did not appeal to Koranu. He had a much more 'traditional' view on musical instruments. It stemmed slightly from his love of paintings that had a more relaxed feeling.

He looked to Lys at the end, a smile coming onto his face as he did. "So, Cap'n, who gets to roll first?" The smile widened a bit on Koranu's face as he looked to Lys.

  20. Lys listened to the others, and nodded in greeting to Femp, smiling slightly as she entered. He glanced at the others, and then answered Orca's question. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Yeah...here."</span> Lys pulled a few sheets of music from her bag and passed them around. Each pack was three pages long, with two sheets covered in notes and symbols, and another with lyrics.<span style='color:0099CC'>"Those three are the first three songs you guys will perform if you get in, so might as well attempt to play them now and see how you go. And if you want me to sing, I'll gladly do so."</span> Lys shrugged slightly, and a lazy smile crept upon his face. Usually, he couldn't be bothered with anything that would take more than five minutes of his time, but it seemed these auditions were an exception. He looked over to Koranu, still smiling. <span style='color:0099CC'>"You want to?"</span> he shrugged. <span style='color:0099CC'>"Or we can do it alphabetically. I'm not bothered who goes first- just start when you're ready."</span> He flopped into the chair again and picked up his clipboard, waiting for the first contender to start up.

((ooc: The three songs are "Ride a White Swan" by T.Rex, "Rock and Roll Queen" by The Subways and "I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor" by The Arctic Monkeys. If someone singing and not playing needs accompaniment, ask Lys. He has backing tapes. And yeah- characters need to play one of those...I know they aren't familiar with them, but give it a go!))
