Day : 23rd Month : Tessera Year : Year 81376 Out of Character Before I begin, let me ask a favour. If you join (anyone is welcome), please make sure you're going to finish this thread with me. If you start posting, don't suddenly stop posting. If you're going to have to stop coming onto RaL, please tell me! I have about three other threads where the other person hasn't replied yet. (If you are one of these people, GO!! ) Thanks! In Character As the sun set on the horizon, a young Pendragon padded along the foot of a mountain. This young athlete couldn't help but have a certain bounce in his step as a certain apprehension gripped him. He was in a mood to do some rockclimbing, but the sun was setting. He'd thought of it too late. But it would be impossible for him to fall asleep or anything like that...especially with the sudden energy he'd acquired from sitting around all day by the beach. He didn't care. The sable-royal blue coloured Pendragon inhaled deeply once and decided to have a go at it anyway. It was pretty risky, considering he had no wings, but if he did, it would be cheating, right? So off he went, calculating every move carefully. As a row of fingers latched to some rock jutting out of the mountain, a foot stepped onto a ledge.
OOC: Mind if I join? By the way, i have not created this character ... Yet. IC: Gliding slowly in the clouds, an emerald 'dragon looked dreamily at the landscape below her. Nobody. Well that's normal, I guess Thought the young adolescent, Why should I expect to find anybody in these mountains at this time?. Kaelarah was to attend one of the extremely unintresting annual family gatherings. She her had left her cave thinking she would take at least two days to arrive but she now realised she was only a couple of hours flight away and had more than a day ahead of her. What she now looked for was some distraction, she was bored. Besides, she hated family gatherings. They were always the same: Same faces, same stupid remarks and questions. So many pendragons and yet none with whom she could have a decent conversation since they were all either 500 years older than her or 400 years younger. Kaelarah suddenly stopped as her eyes came accross what appeared to be a royalblue speck in the distance, far below. She lowered to have a better view and, now sure that the speck was in fact a a pendragon, came closer to the ground. She landed gently a few meters away from the 'dragon, at the foot of the mountain. She sat down on her haunches and observed. After a few moments she began, falteringly: - H... Hey there. You must be brave indeed to try and climb this mountain without wings.
He pulled himself up to a ledge, standing on both hind legs, as both elbows rested on a higher ledge. His head turned halfway, his chin resting on his shoulder, and with a flick of his tail, ensured a good balance. "Well, it certainly isn't easy. Everything comes with practice." Once again, his head turned back to look above, and he pulled himself up higher. He didn't mean to be impolite, it's just that he wasn't the type who liked to be distracted while climbing, but he replied this time because he wasn't high yet. But if he had been in the center of the mountain, he would have completely ignored whoever talked to him. This young, yet well-bodied male with nothing but muscle under his skin had no regrets about the way he had treated the one who had inquired him. He had hardly seen her, anyways, since his head doesn't turn that much.
Kaelarah frowned a little at the strangers cold response, but that wasn't enough to deter her. She called out after him: Right. So you climb often? she came closer to the mountain and began climbing, hesitantly, I've never climbed before, well, I've never needed to She paused, thinking. Well, with my wings, why should i need to? Wonder if i could... Would it bother you if I tried ? Wouldn't get hurt, hopefully. I've got my wings if I fall.
With a quiet, slightly frustrated sigh, he paused once again. "Of course it wouldn't bother me. And you obviously can't get hurt, because you're lucky enough to have wings." He had a definite envy for wings, but had learned to be versatile on land and in the water, giving both his best effort, so he supposed that he was better than the Pendragons that can't swim at all. "Climbing isn't something we usually need to do. Well, I don't, anyways. It's really just a hobby. I suppose you know the basics of climbing..it's basically holding on to whatever ledge you can, then stepping higher and higher...but you don't need as much concentration as I do," he continued, in his last statement referring to the fact Kaelarah had wings.
Right. holding on to whatever ledge you can, then stepping higher and higher. Kaelarah looked around and, finding a stable looking stone jutting out out the mountain side, she caught it and tried putting weight on it. It seemed to hold. She then reached out for another one with her right paw. She checked that that one was fixed aswell and, putting pressure with her two front paws, she managed to lift herself and find support for he two hind ones. She continued climbing this way, slowly and cautiously. A hobby? Seems 'fun' enough. What'your name, by the way?
"It doesn't have to be fun. I'm just into extreme sports and all that." He shivered as a gust of wind hit his back. He gripped the rock in his pands tightly. "My name is Nelson Kiro. You?" He turned, and took a good look at her. It would be pitch black soon, anyway.. The sun barely peeked out of the horizon. "Nice sunset, no?" He marvelled at it for a second, then turned backwards to look down and see how much had been climbed so far - about 10 meters. "Hey, you're doing pretty good."
ooc: Sorry stupid me -_- bic: Kaelarah was enjoying the slow ascension, she had never done anything like it before. Name's Kaelarah Mistri, but I like Kae better. Some say it' somewhat masculine but I don't quite care. She smiled as she continued climbing. Yeah it's lovely... She said softly, looking absently at the sky, lost in thoughts. She continued climbing as well as she could, her paws hurting slightly. Will we have to stop when it gets too dark or will it still be safe?
ooc: Promise to finish this thread when I join it! Bic: Awaken from her sleep by faint voices echoing throughout the mountain and up to her home. She rose from the fairly cool floor of the cave and wandered over to the enterance into her cave. As she came to the enterance she noticed that the sun was setting off behide the horizon, smiled at the sight of it as the wind blew over her water coloured, fish-like skin. With a stretch of her forepaws and hide legs then looks down towards the surface from her up high home. Listening to the sound of others as they carryon talking amounts themselves. Wonder if I should go and meet up with them or wait until they reach my home...after going over this with herself she decided to go down and greet the ones who are attempting her summit. She jumped out of her cave then dived down onto a ledge below it coming to a scratching stop as she slided to the edge of it. Takes a deep breath of delight then slips of the ledge and begins her climb down to the others easily. Clenching to the smallest of jagged rock that you could image.
ooc: Yay! ^_^ bic: "Kae? That's not masculine at all. I'd hate to be named Kae." He paused. "Being a guy and all. Um, I mean, I'd hate to be named Kae, because I'm a guy, and Kae is as feminine as names get." Nelson blinked, not wanting that comment to sound insulting or anything. He sort of regretted saying that. He was rambling, and thought he needed to stop that. "Whatever feels safer for you. I'm going to keep climbing until it gets pitch black." He turned once again, noticing that the top of the sun still peeked over the ocean. "That should be about half an hour from now." He noticed that the summit was drawing nearer, and finally noticed a dark form climbing down towards them. "We're not alone..."
Kae didn't quite know what to think as Nelson tried to explain his answer and was glad to see the stranger approach them. I don't mind if we continue the ascension it's just that ... Well, you're going to think that this is rather strange .. but... i don't quite feel comfortable in the dark, it's just one of my phobias. But, I guess it's be fine, I always carry a liittle firefly pet in a jar, so... I guess it'll be ok. She said uneasily, her emerald paw feeling for the familiar shape of the small bottle-like object in her little bag. Shall we go see who it is? Or do you think it unsafe?
Comes to a smaller ledge then the one that she begin from then drops down onto it lightly knock a few tiny rocks off as she does. Looks down towards the others as they stop then glars slightly. Her eyes begin to glow a erie blue color as she focus in on them like a hawk on small game. Smirks at the idea that there was a male with in the dueling team of climbers. Looks away from them for a moment and noticed that the sun was entirely ingulfed by the horzion and that the clouds was slowly parting to show the starlite sky. They should call it a night before to late...there is more things on this mountain side to worry about besides me. Looks off slowly then closes her eyes as a gentle breeze blows over her.
"Oh, well if you're afraid, go right ahead and fly to the top. I'll meet you there." Nelson was about two meters away from a big rock that he could jump onto, then jump for the summit from. Then, as he reached for it, his left hind leg slipped off the little rock it had been standing on. "Help!!!!" He screamed frantically. Now, both his pands clutched a small piece of rock as his hind legs searched for something to stand on.
The femme 'dragon opened her eyes suddenly at the sound of the males cries for help. Looks down from where she is standing and noticed him hang by his forepaws and was about to let go. She rose up from her sitting position and dove of the ledge. Hitting the mountain side like a rock, she dug her claws into the hard surface and rushed towards the male that was indanger. As she came close to where he was she came to a dead stop then scanned her options for a short moment. Noticing that he didn't have much time she acted quickly sliding on down the summit beside him. Gets back a few feet aways from he before she attempted her rescue. Just as she got the distances she need she blasts off running across the ledge at lightning pace then jumped up from the there to the male. Wrapping her forearms about his waist breaking his hold on the rocks. Then just as she had him she scaled the summit with easy bounce of energy and speed. Reaches the ledge that he was inteading go for then sets him down. After the rescue she dropped down to a knee looking towards the rocks with great green glowing eyes, taking in lite breathes. Keeping her eyes stright at the surface if the avoiding eye contact with the male pendragon.
No ,it's ok I'll climb with you... She said trying to hide her fear. Though she was scared of the dark, Kae felt that it'd be even worse alone and id not want to part wit him. Stop being such a scared niotie ... Her thoughts were interrupted by Nelson's cry. She lookd up and began to panic . She didn't know what to do. Her muscles were tensed as she tried to think calmly. don't .. just, stay there . do .. something, quick . Wait i'm .. coming. She scrambled up frantically hoping she wouldn't fall in her haste. But just as she about to reach him she realised that the stranger was about to save him and stopped to ttake her breath. She was both a little relieved and ashamed. I should have saved him... this stranger was braver and quicker than me... i'm just a coward She joined them, head down. you alright... she began but didn't finish.
Nelson stared blankly, in a state of shock. As he caught his breath, a huge feeling of relief and embarassment came over him - he was safe, but he had boasted about being an amazing climber. In front a girl. That just horrified him. He really regretted that. He couldn't even look at Kae, but he stared at the stranger thankfully. "Oh, man. How can I ever thank you? Anything. That was my life you just saved...Dude, you're amazing." As he thanked her, his eyes shifted to see Kae's face, and seeing her, he couldn't help but avoid her gaze once again. "Uh, yes...I think I'm alright." He blinked, and turned to face her. "Thanks." He smiled at her.
Looks over at him with the pale glowing eyes as she watches his face vaguely. Looks away from him and nodded slowly as she standed from the ground. Sighs and shakes her head a bit as she thinks about him thanking her, but don't know how to reply to it. Looks back to him with a glare of shame as she looks to him. "What are doing on this mountain...?" Walks over to the ledge and looks up towards her cave. "Don't you know that it is to dangerous here." Jumps up from the ledge and scales the side of the mountain and reaches another ledge above them about 20 more feet. "Go back home dragons...you have no business here...", proceeds to another ledge that is just beneath her cave.
"What am I doing here? Well, you saw me and her..." Nelson turned and looked at Kae. "We were climbing." Almost completely recovered from the shock of his accident, he returned back to his usual mood - umimpressed, and pretty self-absorbed. "Well, it's not like you have any business telling me what to do!" He glared at her. "We're nearly at the top anyways, and it's just about pitch black right now.." It seems he has already forgotten the good deed his rescuer had done for him...but that was Nelson. Seemingly forgetting Kae, he looked off the cliff to find a way down. She could fly down, right? Would she really want to stay with a klutz like him?
Stops at the ridge beneath her cave then sits down. Curls her knees up against her chest and sighs a bit thinking to herself. Would it really be safe to let them stay with me for the night until morning came...? She gave this a though for a short moment then looked over the edge down at them. Gets up on her feet slowly and glares down on them for a while, smirked then shruged. "Do you want to stay here with me for the rest of the night?!" Listens for a response then speaks again. "It would be great to hear about how things has changed since last I have left these mountains! So what do you say?!" Drops down on a knee and waits to hear one of them to reply.
