26 Tria (Summer), 81381 Lexton wearing a black t-shirt and long brown pants. IC: Lexton peered into the glass case that was built into the counter with a troubled look on his face. He had been kneeling there for almost an hour, trying to decide which battery would be better for his new project. He could take the high-power LX-567 or the rechargeable DSF-12. Either would work for him, but he wanted to make absolutely sure he was getting the one that was best for his new creation. "How much is the DSF again?" The old, black furred dragon at the counter took the cigar out of his mouth for a moment. He was getting really fed up with this nerdy window shopper. "I told you, its five hundred. I'm not going any lower than that." He pointed the slowly burning roll of tobacco at Lexton as he spoke, the fumes emanating from it slowly making him feel sick. "Fine fine, just give it to me so I can get out of here." He reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. Paying the shopkeeper he took his purchase and walked out into the street. Taking a deep breath of the fresh air outside he decided to find a place to sit down and examine his new toy. It was much too early to head into a bar, not that he would have drank the foul poison that was alcohol anyway, but sometimes they were good for meeting people and striking up a good conversation; something that Lexton loved. Peering at the map of the shopping center he had picked up earlier in the day he decided on a small and nice looking cafe, at least from the picture, just a few blocks up the street. He had been born and grew up in Watani, but being away for more than ten years had made moving back hard; a lot of things can change in that time. As he set off down the street he felt something begin to shake and buzz in his pocket. Taking his phone out of his pocket he pressed the button and lifted the phone to his ear. Talking as he made his way to the cafe.
OOC Mind if I join? ^_^ IC Amaroq walked down the street, absently sharpening the blade of his dagger with one claw. People gave him nervouse looks, but he ignored them. Better they be afraid than overly friendly, he thought darkly. As he walked, he spotted a nice little cafe. He started to go in when he saw a small, unkempt arden walking toward the door, a cell phone at his ear. He held open the door and waited.
OOC: Sorry for the slow reply, been busy with finals. IC: "Aww but honey why did Jess leave you this time? Did you make her mad again?" Lexton rolled his eyes as he spoke with his mother on the phone, she always had a bad habit of calling him right when he didn't want to talk to her. "No mom. She said she just needed space, whatever that means." All females seemed to need 'space'. Lexton had given up trying to figure out why years ago. It was probably why he was always so unsuccessful with them. "Anyway, I'm sure she will come around again, she always has before." "Aww I hope so dear. Oops! I think Tishra is on the other line, talk to you later Lexy!" "Right, bye." He scowled as he pocked his phone again. He was fully grown and she still treated him like a hatching. She would even do it on the rare occasion that he did bring a female home to meet her. Nearing the cafe, Lexton noticed a rather tough looking Pendragon holding the door open for him. Moving past as quickly as he could he mumbled, "Thanks." and made a fast walk up to the counter. The last thing he needed today was some punk robbing him. The young girl behind the counter turned to face him. She had purple fur and a very cute smile on her face. Her tiny ears jutted back in a very pretty way. "Can I get you something sir?" She asked in a cheeky voice. "Yes, ill have two medium coffees, both with sugar please." He always got more than one, years of late nights had built up quite a caffeine tolerance in him. The girl handed him the drinks and he paid her. He couldn't help but return her smile and blushed. Turning quickly so she didn't notice he sat down at the nearest table and reached for one of the local free papers to read as he drank.
OOC No problem IC Amarqo fought back a smile as the arden quickly ducked passed him. He went in and went to the other side of the counter, giving the arden some space. "Large coffee." He said quietly as the tall 'dragon turned to face him. "Here." The 'dragon put down a large cup and turned away again. Amaroq went and found a table in the corner. Watching the yellow 'dragon, he couldn't help a small laugh. Jumpy thing, isn't he?
Lexton sifted though the paper while sipping the coffee. Nothing that interesting was happening in the news. A fire had ravaged a home, a new clothes store in the shopping center had opened, an update on the local trial of a convicted murder... Nothing that really interested him. He set the paper down for a moment and caught a glimpse of the thuggish looking dragon that had held the door open for him was sitting across the room looking, albeit laughing at him. Lexton felt a rush of embarrassment and anger. He had always been so self conscious of these things. Burying his head back in the paper he tried as best he could to hide from the gaze of his onlooker. OOC: Sorry for short post, really busy with studying right now.
Amaroq noticed the arden hide behind his paper and realized he'd been caught. Ah, what do I care? he thought, pulling out his dagger again and sharpening the already-sharp edge. Then, he realized why the 'dragon must be hiding. Looking down at himself, he realized how tough he looked. He got up, walking over to the arden's table. "Hey, I'm Amaroq. I hope I didn't scare you; I don't get out much." He held out his hand, doing his best to look as un-intimidating as he could. Poor guy. Hope I didn't scare him. OOC: happens to me all the time ^_^
Lexton's heart almost jumped into his throat when the thuggish dragon walked over to him and extended his arm. Suppressing his first frightened instinct he decided it would be better to humor "Amaroq" as to stay off his bad side. Lexton really really didn't want to cross someone that looked like they could take his head off in an instant. Reaching out his slightly shaking arm he shook the dragons hand. "Uhh, err, L..Lexton. I'm Lexton. Nice t-to meet you." he tried to chuckle but feared it may have come out as more of a whimper. "Thank you for holding the door open for me, is there anything I can do for you?"
Amaroq tried not to laugh as th arden jumped, a look of terror crossing his face. "Nice to meet you, Lexton." he said, smiling. He forgot how sharp his teeth were. He was trying his hardest not to scare Lexton, but it didn't seem to be working. "I was actually wondering if I could do anything for you. I'm looking for a job, and I can't seem to find one." Amaroq explained, letting go of Lexton's hand after a moment. ooc: Sorry, didn't notice you'd replied.
"A job?" Lexton thought for a moment. Maybe this thug wasn't so thuggish after all, despite his looks. This guy might be good for some heavy lifting, something that Lexton absolutely hated. "Yes I think I might have something. Do you like boxes? You see, I'm just settling into my new place and I need some help getting all the boxes of machinery into my new shop." Lexton seemed to forget that this would involve showing this guy where he lived, but he was too infatuated with the thought that he would get out of all that back breaking work to notice. "Interested?"
Amaroq chuckled. It sounded more like a growl. "I'd like that. Heavy lifting is one of my favorite things to do." It sounded strange, but Amaroq was a little strange. He carefully hid his knife before Lexton could see it, not wanting to scare the arden. "Mind if I sit down?" Amaroq asked, pulling a chair out.
OOC: God, I'm so slow, I'm sorry ><. "Sure" Lexton replied, putting his hands on the table. He had made it a point to always try and find out as much as he could about someone before he worked with them. "So Amaroq, tell me a little more about yourself. Are you from Watani originally?" Lexton hoped that at the very least the questions wouldn't seem too prying, lest to anger the dragon.
"Thanks." Amaroq sat down, thinking about Lexton's question. "No, I'm not from Watani. I'm travelling around and searching for work so I can send money home." He said carefully. The arden looked harmless enough, but he was still cautious when he talked about home...and family. OOC: Don't be sorry. I don't mind.
"Really now?" He seemed somewhat reluctant to speak. Lexton figured it best not to pry. "Alright. Come over to my new place tonight at seven. I'm going to need a lot of help though, it's a big job." He scribbled down his address on a napkin and handed it to the other dragon."Sorry, but I need to go now. I hope to see you there." With that he took the last sip of his coffee and collected his things. In his excitement about not having to do his own moving it didn't even occur to him that he just gave his address to someone that could potentially rob him. He walked out the door with a dopey grin on his face.
Amaroq left seconds after Lexton did. He had the address shoved in his pocket, along with the money from a job he'd just finished. Looking around, he spotted a nice shady tree to sit under. Soon, he was fast asleep. OOC: 6:59 pm Amaroq opened his eyes, looking around quickly. Noticing a clock nearby, he read the time. "Damn, I'll be late." He muttered, climbing to his feet. Pulling the address out of his pocket, he memorized it quickly before crumpling the paper and tossing it over his shoulder. A few feet behind him, a group of theives watched eagerly as their leader picked up the paper and smoothed it out. "Looks like we've got a job to do, boys." He said, turning to follow a short cut through the alleys to Lexton's house.
