Some were exploring the tank, noseing their way along the edges, while the rest were bunched up in a small heap in the back corner; partially buried under the substrate. In a seperate, smaller tank, a single hatchling coiled beside the small ceramic dishes that held food and water. It was a 'dead hatchling', one that refused to feed; soon it would die of starvation, or have to be put down. Stryx felt fairly lucky though, he had only had three dud eggs and the one 'dead' in the clutch, good for his young snakes' first clutch. The mother of the young snakes was drapped around his shoulders, a lovely calico snake he had named Ankh. The father was in a vivarium next to the dead hatchlings, his favorite snake, a striped male by the name of Lucien. He stroked Ankh's head, walking over to his bed and flopping down. He had posted a notice in the front foyer about his eight available alugha hatchlings yesterday, when they had hatched, and now all he had to do was wait.

She had always loved animals, and when she heard that they would be having some pets for a bit, she was very pleased. Mara rolled off the bed and landed squarely on her hind legs. She walked over to the cage and stroked what seemed to be the father's back. He inched away from her a bit, but eventually just enjoyed her light stroke. Mara slowly lifted the snake out of the cage and let him curl his way up her arm. To her slight amazement, he curled himself around her tattoo that snaked up her arm, making it completely invisible. She grinned, not taking her eyes off the snake. <span style='color:orange'>"Are we keeping the parents in here?"</span> she asked Stryx as she sat in the chair opposite him.
<span style='color:red'>"Yup,"</span> he answered, stroking the patches of color that marked Anhk's back, <span style='color:red'>"Them and the rest."</span> he jabbed a thumb in the direction of the desk, where eight vivairiums sat in a neat stack, forming a wall of tanks. On the front of each cage was a small chart taped to the sliding glass door, listing the snake's name, age, gender and the last time they fed. He was proud of his collection of alugha, giving them the best care possible. <span style='color:red'>"Hope I can find homes for all these little guys." </span>he mumbled, planting a small kiss on the nape of Ankh's neck.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Joining as Dade ;) Want info, click the link in my sig.</td></tr></table> Dade was dressed in black cargos, a white tee shirt, and a silver and black button up shirt covered in tribal designs as he walked up to the door and knocked lightly. He had been at the Academy today dealing with a bunch of his enrollment and transfer papers. Stupid paperwork. At least he had seen the sign in the entry way saying that an Alugha breeder had a clutch. Dade had been raising Alugha for most of his life, as his parents were both animal breeders and willing to welcome any animal he was interested in into their home to encourage him in the family trade. It wasnÂ’t exactly there fault, or his, that he never really felt more than a hobby interest in animal breeding. His true calling was evident by a visor that was perched on top his head between his upright, perked canine ears, making a striking contrast against both the white of his coat and the spun gold of his spiky hair. "UmmÂ… Anybody home?"
Stryx, shifted in his seat to face the door. He hopped up, one hand steadying Ankh, and he cracked open the door, taking a quick peek at the visitor. Reaching the conclusion that the visitor posed no threat, he flung the door open all the way. <span style='color:red'>"Hey, how can I help yeh?"</span> he asked, shifting Ankh so he was curled around his neck, freeing his hands.
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td><span style='color:gray'>Joining as Thi. My one breeder</span></td></tr></table> Thi had seen the notice in the front foyer. Alughas(sp is horrible I know). Those were a step up from Flitter and Trisk. She wanted to see them if possibly get one. Just in case, she had brought along one of her tan flitters from her recent clutch to use in trade if she decided to get one. The flitter sat on her shoulder preening its feathers as she walked into the room.
<span style='color:red'>"Hiya," </span>Stryx chirped in greeting, turning to the newcomer that had a small tan bird sitting on her shoulder. <span style='color:red'>"Are you two here about the alugha hatchlings?"</span> he asked. Ankh loosened her coils from around his neck and began nosing his way down the front of his shirt. Stryx let her, she probably just wanted to get at the heat his body was giving off. Her stroked the smooth scales of her side.
"Yeah, I was hoping for a look." Dade reached up and straitened the visor on his head, a small smile creeping onto his borzoi-like muzzle at the sight of the snake draped over the shoulders of the other Pendragon. "IÂ’ve bred them for a long time, and have been thinking about another male. Preferably one with some good colorÂ…"
Thi nodded. -I was thinking about getting one. I'm currently just breeding two species but i kinda wanta get a start on the other kinds- She said. -Whatever you got that looks nice and is uncommon or rare I'll trade a flitter from my last for- she announced.
<span style='color:red'>"A male eh? Well I got a few, one of them kinda unique." </span>he headed over to the tank of hatchlings, beckoning the arrivals over. He quickly put Ankh back in her vivairum, before pointing to the hatchlings tank. He listed them off, <span style='color:red'>"Gotta charcoal-red-pale red striped one, solid scutes, silver-bloodred-light copper striped, and the strange one, pumpkin-pale red-pale red calico male..."</span> he tapped the glass lightly, making the snakes twitch slightly. <span style='color:red'>"In females I have a couple of silver-bloodred-light copper stripes's; one with solid scutes and the other with irregular, a charcoal-red-pale red striped with solid scutes, and two pumpkin-charcoal-pale red calico's, both with irregular scutes." </span>He said breathlessly, pointing each snake out. <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>want me to make a list of them? probably make it easier to read...</td></tr></table>
Mara was a bit amazed that all these 'dragons had shown up so quickly. She carefully shifted the weight of the alugha on her shoulders and tried to stand. As she did, she felt him slithering around her torso and down her back. She tried to act cool and content about this, but couldn't when he stuck his slightly chilly head down her loose jeans. She let out a slight yelp of surprise and began dancing around a bit, trying to get him out. Eventually, he stuck his head out of the bottom of her jeans and slinked out. Mara picked him up again, but this time kept a slight hold on his tail and lower body.
Thi looked slightly confused. she was so used to flitter and Trisk colorations not Alugha. She did her the irregular patter and said. -May I look at the Pumkin-pale one- she said thoughtfully.
<span style='color:red'>"Sure thing."</span> Stryx slid open the front of the cage, pulling out the larger of the two pumpkin females. The small snake coiled around his fingers, bright pink eyes clear and attentive. <span style='color:red'>"Would you like to hold her?"</span> he asked, offering her the hatchling.
She took a quick glance to the Flitter on her shoulder -Will anything happen to...- her sentence trailed off as she had her flitter step onto her arm and she was ready to have her perch somewhere else if nesscasary
<span style='color:red'>"They just got fed, so it shouldn't be a problem."</span> he said, <span style='color:red'>"Just don't hold them to close together, the little gal might get frightened and take a swipe at your bird there." </span>The aforementioned creature continued to slither her way around Stryx's gentle fist. <span style='color:red'>"But's so far she's been pretty even tempered, it should be okay."</span>
Syray had noticed the note in the front foyer. He had come in like he did sometimes, at night just to see if there were any students around that were waiting for him so they could purchase some of the things he was able to make. But no such luck. He was interested in getting one of the alughas though. They would be a good addition to his research. He had made his way up to the dorm, his long cloak shading his face slightly. He walked in hesitantly, taking a glance at the alughas in the terrariu nearby. He walked up to the one who seemed to be in charge. "The alughas there, you are giving them out? "
Stryx glanced at the male who had just arrived. <span style='color:red'>"They're for sale or trade, but I'm taking any good offer at the moment." </span>he said brightly, glad to have so many people interested in his snakes. <span style='color:red'>"Are you interested in a male or female?" </span>he asked, <span style='color:red'>"Or is there a particular pattern you're looking for? I have striped and calico in this clutch." </span>he added.
"A male." He said, slouching down a bit. He did not like the crowd, and would be happier the sooner he could leave. But he wanted an alugha. He looked over at the tank. And at the small wreathing masses inside. They all looked to be pretty good coloring, and by what Stryx had said they where rare as well. He walked over to the tank and looked in. "What sort of trade?" He said thinking of all the small gadgets and things that were stashed away in his cloak. He had not thought he would need them tonight, and was glad he had brought them
Stryx shrugged, still holding the female who had begun to writhe in his grasp. <span style='color:red'>"Depends, anything that'd amount up to the worth of one of these guys, but I ain't picky."</span> he stroked the pumpkin female, calming her down slighty, his fingers brushing along her thin back.
