Day: 9 Quarter: Mia (Winter) Year: Year 2 ()()(: Remember this is on the same day as that old RP so forgive us about the Quarter. Forgive the shortness but I got little ta work with *pokes Lizzie* B!(: He meandered through a random path he picked. It didn't seem to have many twists and turns and was suitable enough for chatting along. While walking along he apparently had scared a passing Trinthili which was unusual in itself. Most of the time they were in the plains or burrows. Shurgging to himself he continued to walk alongside Ryans.
Yet she seemed only more amazed. "Shapeshifting, wow. Â I was I had been born male." There was a distinct tone of mourning in her voice. She had watched her old friends shapeshift many times before, but they had been around the same age as her and weren't very good. If only she could morph like that! Shark, unaware of the possibilities in that matter, could only dream about the kinds of stuff she could pull off, should she have been gifted with that power. Looking back now on the times when she had watched the old pals, the niotie was almost certain that she had literally turned green with envy. Sighing, she replied, "My family sent me, told me to stop wasting my life and make something of myself. I think they expect me to be a doctor or something." She blinked in that unbelieving way, and only then realized that she had taken to speaking outloud.
He smirked slightly. To keep up the tempo back to speech he said, "Don't forget female 'dragons are telepathic at birth. And, as you get older you can move objects with your mind. Plus a couple of females have been known to be able to shapeshift." Sometimes he wished he could read minds. It would be alot easier to avoid people who might want his head. Shapeshiftin' only got you so far. He'd known some femme 'dragons his age when younger and marveled how they had gotten out of things, simply by avoiding doing things when adults were nearby. He blinked at Ryans's reply. "Hmph. I hate it when parents do that to you. They expect you to be perfect and do exceptional in everything you try at. That mentality has made 'dragons before do drastic things." Mentally he glared at his dead father who had aspired to think of exploiting young Rioze's abilities and want to rent him out as a poisoner at his age.
"How did they do that?!" she exclaimed, always having thought that it was only the males. Then, retracing, she added, "Well, I'd be happy to trade you." A light chuckle. "I doubt I'll ever be able to move stuff. It takes practice, dedication, and the killer: patience. I can barely make out what people are thinking... it's all fuzzy..." She scratched her head, frustrated at her lack of abilities. "And anyways, I'm sure mind-reading can be a burden, in more ways than one." Brows raised at his enthusiastic reply, and she ventured, 'Yeah... did it happen to you or something?"She wondered what kind of 'drastic things' he was refering to.
"How? Don't ask me. I believe it has to do with studying how it works and having the willpower to make the changes. I've personally never met one that could, but I can't really judge." Another lopsided grin. "I prefer to avoid interaction with most femme 'dragons." "I'm sure you would," he remarked slightly entertained with the thought of switching abilities. "Patience can be acquired with some time I suppose. I guess that's why older 'dragons can do it, added to the fact us 'dragons get stronger as we age." "And for the fuzziness...You're young. Things get clearer as you get along." He vaguely waved at the direction of the school. "You could study about being a telepath or something. And I think you might be able to block other 'dragons' thoughts with some experience." He thoughtfully respondedto her query of his life. "Oh you know. Teachers say I'm a genius and I'm instantly thought of being able to go over the norm for everything. I do not appreciate my every move being watched and the crows of jeering when I miss something." And that, he thought to himself satisfiedly, was when they realized I was a force to be reckoned with outside the classroom. "As for drastic measures...some run away, rebel, go to a counselor, you get the point. I just sucked it up and moved on. There is that saying of what doesn't kill you makes ya stronger." That quote might have been true. He was certainly alive today.
"Well, in that case, I am most definatly looking into it!" She looked perfectly serious and hard set in this sudden decision. In response to is second comment, she smiled and nodded. "I second that." Though, the following remark caught her interest a bit, though she tried to hide it. "What do you mean.. block their thoughts? Like, forcing someone into braindead-ness?" Black eyes had grown large, as they often did when she was imagining something deliciously morbid. As he recited his past issues, Shark nodded, half in understanding and half in admirance. She had never been really very stressed out before, just very annoyed, but she hoped that she could 'suck it up and move on' as well. Though he hadn't mentioned it, the niotie had thrown in her own ideas, most including angsty teenage suicide. "Hey, that's cool... Did you get back at them?"
He rolled his eyes. This was when most 'dragons developed some odd morbidness or other. "Blocking as in tuning them out. Like put up mental shields or summat like that." In his thoughts he wondered what the younger 'dragon thought of his thoughts. Probably running along with her imagination. At her next question he merely shurgged and replied, "I didn't really have a chance to. Mother dead during childbirth and father killed by unknown forces. 'Supposedly' an accident." He had long since gotten over it. Though he was slightly suspicious of the Graders he had no real proof. Didn't matter anyway, they had never bothered him.
"Oh." She seemed slightly disappointed. "Meh... I'm sorry." Her reply carried a slight inquiring tone... she wasn't at all good at those sort of polite sympathies. Though his last statement sparked her curiousity, and she put in, "Unknown forces? Supposedly? Sounds exc-fishy, to me."
Tempted as he was to roll his eyes again, he refrained from doing so. Wonder what she thought I meant. Must have been appropriately inane and gory. "You get used to reality pretty quick." His mouth quirked slightly. Rioze didn't like people acting pitying, even sympathetic for that matter. "Unknown forces as in oh..something that seems like an accident but is too out of place for it to be so. Mayhaps murder, who knows."
"I BET SO," she put in eagerly, almost hopping in place. "IbetIbetIbetIbet... Mayhaps a conspiracy? Oooh, that would be so cool.. What 'cha gonna do about it?" She watched him intently, beaming ear to ear, which wasn't so unusal for her. She hoped his answer involved spies and assassinations.
This time he did roll his eyes. Very exageratedly as well. Ryans morbid enthusiasm was getting her along the same line of thought he saw. She tended to keep going back to the spies and murder questions. "A conspiracy. Uh huh. Yup, 'dragons are just walking around thirsting for my blood. I intend to do nothing as what's done is done. Revenge is a petty emotion to use," he remarked in a dry tone. Rioze's favorite form of expression, he idly noticed, was sarcasm. It was around the time he shot a question at Ryans. Otherwise this would probably become some sort of one-sided conversation with him only replying. "Anything interesting in your life, besides overbearing parents?"
She shrugged, bemused. "Hey, it could happen." At his inquiry, Shark shook her head, sighing. "Of course not. I come from the most boring family line in existance. Besides my oddball of a brother who I think has robbed more folks than meals he's inhaled, I wouldn't be surprised if all my relatives were.. androids, or something." She blinked, finding it quite logical, now that she looked back.
