Day: 33rd Quarter: Dyo Year: 2 \\ Tryphaena Nagaina ¤ #11, Female, 2500 ¤ Languages (J) ¤ Tracking (J) \\ IC Tryphaena settles in her room, on the third floor underground. Room, neatly entitled, #355. Being a part time teacher was interesting. She never knew the students for more than a semester, and she never knew what learning level she would get either. Rather like playing a lottery. The odds were against her for getting a well rounded class, but she liked it that way. Never knowing what to expect kept life interesting. But now, sitting behind her desk, on a cusion on the floor, she puts her pink-furred paws on the table, shuffling around some papers, which she'd hopefully give out to many attentive students in the near future. They included some basic words, grammar rules, and other such important things. Skull adorned with two ivory horns curled around, she flicks her ears back, listening to scuffing movements outside the door, in the hallway. Perhaps some of her students? Well, anyway, they had ten minutes before class started, so she waits patiently for their arrival, going over the attendance sheet just one more time..
The door was opened a crack, and two eyes peered in from behind. A beat later, it was swung open, and the eager form of a student scampered inside. She was small, no bigger than an Earthen wildcat cub, and reading her features was no easier than it had been before, face kept shadowed even as she looked up to greet the teacher. Only her wide, black eyes and shark-like grin could easily be seen. "Allo, Mizz. This is Languages, right?"

Two large eyes peered through the door window, large, gold and lacking pupil's. They seemed more fit for some horror story demon than for the ditzy 'dragon cub they belonged to. Yankee O'Driscoll hastily threw open the door and scurried into the musty classroom. "Hully, Nett. Ni muna et Yankee O'Driscoll.. et shet sha lumdoudat klutt?"[/b] He had hardly any Ramathian knowledge, and this was probably the only full phrase he knew. It had been committed to memory just a few short hours ago, as he sat in the hallway waiting for class to start. It was his first day, and the child was more than a bit nervous. The white moehawk that topped his head was falling into his eyes and his dark sapphire pelt was tangled and matted; he had no time for preening while preparing himself for his first day at the Academy. Now he had a chance to take in the room. He examined it, wide eyed, for a few long minutes, not sure where he should talke a seat. His instincts told him to just take the nearest one, but his slightly paranoid mind forced him into believing that it was the teachers choice, and a bad first impression on the teacher would forever shatter his dreams of being a language scholar. Only now did the ditzy young chap realize the presence of another student, and an amiable grin was offered. "..Hi!"[/b]
Eka walked in to the classroom and looked round. There was already two other students waiting for the class to start. Eka smiled to them and took a seat. Eka didnÂ’t know any Ramathian and was looking forward to learning it. She was also very happy because it was the first class she wasnÂ’t late for.
Tryphaena grins as three students walk into the room, more or less, one after the other. To address both of them, she winks as she replies, "Iat, shet et lumdoudat klutt." And then she translates into modern, "Yes, this is languages class." She continues, "Ni muna et Tryphaena Nagaina, ump E un glautap sy naas iyo." then again in modern, "My name is Tryphaena Nagaina, and I am pleased to meet you." She decided not to use contractions, just yet. She'd wait until they had a greater knowledge of the language before introducing slang. "Now, I have your name, sir Yankee, but what about you two?" she marks Yankee's name down on her attendance sheet, then looks up, between the other two students, grinning happily.
Eka looks up at the teacher with her gray eyes and says. “Hello, my name is Eka Tsyjn." She tries in Ramathian “Hally…..my..um…… Sorry don’t know much of that stuff."
Drak walked into the room nonchalantly, thinking he had time. He noticed only very few other students were here and if this was to be another small class, or if he was early. He strolled in, and looked at the other students, smiling. "Ni muna et Drak Faia" he said, "Can't wait to learn some Ramathian. I know very little because my friends taught me, but only works like 'Hi' and 'Food'. Hope I become somewhat fluent in this class."
Nafel walks quietly in. "Shet et lumdoudat?" She smiles. She has a few key phrases in her memory, other then the spells that she has learned at her Elemental Magic class, and from the odd mage that she can pry information out of. "I'm Nafel Isunari. I hope I'm not to late... I had some trouble..." In truth, there had just been horible traffic in the halls, but she wasn't about to admit that. She took a seat in the center near the front, looking nervously at the teacher.
Her odd grin grew wider as she was addressed, and the student replid eagerly with, "Hey! I guess we're gonna be classmates." A she waited for a response, more of them arrived. This was, apparently, a popular class. It hadn't escaped her careful observation that most of the students had ventured a phrase or two. A feeling of relief swept over her now, and she was very happy that Rioze had given her that worksheet, though of course, it was for beginners. He was a lifesaver, if she didn't at least know a simple greeting, the niotie would have felt very silly indeed. "Hally, E un Shark. Shark Ryans. Very happy and relieved to be here." She recalled the incident of her registration a tad painfully, when all anyone had been speaking was Ramathian. Upon larning that no, it was not the main language around here, it was as if a giant weight had been lifted from her shoulders, knees, and then some.
Nafel looks around the room. She notices the other 'Dragons, happy not to be alone. She turns to speak to the nearest one, Eka. "Er... hello. Sorry, I don't know your name. I'm Nafel... You are..?" she smiles warmly.
Eka looked at the pendragon who had spoken to her with a smile. “Hello Nafel, it’s nice to meet you. My name is Eka. I don’t know about you but I am pretty new to this Ramathian stuff."
\\ OOC: I've tried to reply to this thread three times, three times I tell you, and each time I've been distracted, or the browser/computer freaks out and crashes.. *crosses fingers* \\ IC Tryphaena grins brightly, "Very nice to have you all, here. By the end of this semester, I do believe you'll all be fluent, if not very close, in Ramathian." She marks down each one's names on her sheet. Good. Getting semi full, now. And all of them were willing to learn, because they wanted to be here. Tryphaena glances at the clock. Just a couple minutes more until class began, so they had plenty of time to chat with neighbors or herself, and wait for any stragglers getting through the bump-to-bumper traffic in this highly accredited, and equally public, academy.
The door slammed open suddenly. AM I LATE?! Cried a voice. A black with a bit of dark-blueish tinted skinned 'dragon walked in. Her purple eyes shone with worry. She knew absolutly no Ramathian, and she wanted to learn it. Her wings were folded up at her body. She looked around the class. Uhh...Hii...
Tryphaena chuckles at the newcomer, "My, iyo uja mys lusa. Kyna em! No, you aren't late. Please, come in!" She'd speak in both modern and ramathian from now on, without contractions, of course. Practice was key, and that's what she intended to ask them to do. The ancient language was something of a wonder to her, so besides known Ramathian, this 'dragon could imitate any accent. But teaching them every accent wasn't key to this class. Simply helping them with rolling ramathian sounds off their tongue, and slipping a few of the gutteral noises in, too. In no time, they'd sound like naturals at the language of their ancestors.
The 'dragon smiled, blowing her spiky purple hair out of her eyes, and said, My names Jac! She blushed nerviously, and walked over to the corner of the room, away from other 'dragons.
Nafel nods her head at her neighbor. "Nice to meet you too, Eka. Yeah, I'm new to Ramathian, too. I know a few basic words, but that's it... Well, that and a few spells. I'm in Elemental Magic... What are your trades?" She cocks her head, waiting for a reply.
Eka nodes her head in agreement. “My trades? Well I have started a little bit of healing here at the Academy then Astrology, Astronomy, and then Ramathian that’s all at the moment. I’m new to the school so I might just starts off there and maybe take some more. How about you? What else are you taking? "
"Well, at the moment I'm taking Ramathian, Musical Theory and Composition, Elemental Magic, and a Hunting Class. My actual trades are Musical Composition and Elemental Magic. I haven't been here for very long, it's only my first semester. Do you like it here?" She smiles and waits for a reply, happy to have someone to talk to.
“Oh yes. It is very different from where I come from, up North from Dhruv, me, my older sister Mist and older brother came down to learn more and I was very happy to come. The only problem I have is when it gets really hot outside, I’m used to the cold. But I really like having more people around. So you seem to be into music, what is that like?" Eka smiled back also happy to have someone to talk to before class started. She always liked to make new friends.
The door opens hasitly, a little 'dragon almost flying into the room (but, because he lacked wings he couldn't really fly). A very small creature, scales creating the illusion of water, dected out in fins, often seen as an oddball. The little Pendragon, Quxx, thinks nervously {Oh no, I'm late...my first day here to. Nice going Fucakhutaj. Better spew out all the Ramathian you know to impress the teacher.} Quxx then stutters out most of the tidbits of Ramathian he's picked out in his life "Hally. Ni muna et Quxx Fucakhutaj. Tyjji. E leca vyyp." Quxx then stands dumbstruck, hoping he had pronounced everything right, wondering where to sit, and a thousand other thoughts of doom raced through his head.
