Jynx had never run so hard in her life. Then again, she had never been chased by a bunch of angry teenagers before. She didn't even know what she'd done; one moment she was standing outside, waiting to meet one of her brother's friends, the next she was being yelled at, and then she was running for what she was pretty sure was her life.

It didn't help that she kept turning to look back and running in to people. Their yelling attracted yet more angry teenagers, and then there was a whole gang of them hot on her heels. She still couldn't figure out what she'd done.

Turning to rush down an alley, she spotted a stack of crates; perfect. Ducking behind them, she wriggled into a space too small for the ardens to follow, shrinking back as far as she could as they loomed over the opening. The crates were too heavy and stacked too precariously for them to move without injuring themselves, thankfully; maybe if she closed her eyes they would get sick of terrorizing her and just go away. Jynx tried it, putting her paws over her ears, before something different happened.

She peeked out and saw the worst thing that could have possibly happened; they'd found a stick.

Gunner had intended this day to be fully relaxing. Well, as relaxing as you could get in the Blackmarket. Which was pretty rare even when you were in your own home. But anyways. He'd been sitting on some steps across the street from the action when a little girl ran by being chased by some ignorant little teenage boys. The girl looked really young, too. So that automatically made him angry/

He stood up and calmly walked after them, watching the boys gather as he found themselves a stick. He assumed the girl was hiding in the crates. What the hell was going on? Oh so casually Guner shoved past the kids and looked at them with the most intimidating look and he didn't really have to try. <b style="color:#ffb400">"Get lost, punks,"</b> he growled, daring them to do the stupid thing and try to fight him.

Usually he wouldn't give a flying shit about some girl getting picked on, but Gun secretly had a soft spot for young kids. He didn't want to see the kid get hurt by a bunch of punks for no reason.

  3. Jynx was in the process of trying to avoid the stick as they poked at her, apparently attempting to force her out, when a voice growled at them. She peeked out and watched, astounded, as the group immediately dropped their stick and bolted. Obviously, terrorizing her wasn't worth getting beat up over.

She risked a glance up at her savior, pressing her ears back and ready to dive back in case he'd only chased them off because he wanted to pick on her. After a moment, she gave him her best unsure-but-game smile, still cautious. <span style='color:blue'>"Um...thank you?"</span> She phrased it like a question, poking her head out a little more and edging toward the opening.

Jynx began trying to pull herself back out of the space, twisting and kicking at the crates. Bad move; a couple of the ones on top began to wobble, and then fall. She gave a soft <span style='color:blue'>"Eep!"</span> and scrambled out of the way just in time. The crates fell in on each other, blocking the space she'd been in a moment before.

Sitting for a moment on the ground, she stared at the space before bouncing up onto her feet, turning around to smile brightly at the arden who'd saved her, not even bothering with a "hi." <span style='color:blue'>"You're so cool! They practically tripped over themselves to get away! How'd you do that?"</span> Deciding immediately she had a new hero.

OOC: Sorry for the wait! asdjklgra

Having a soft spot for a child is like wanting to go 'aww' when you get a pitiful look from an adorable animal. It was gonna happen no matter how hardass you actually were. That didn't mean he had to act like it. Gun was a bit glad that the kids chose to do the right thing and run off like little pansies, but then again he'd kind of wanted a fight. Oh well. He had something to keep him busy enough now without having to go home and take care of wounds.

The large arden took a step away from the crates to watch the young thill crawl out from under them just before they came down. The thought of seeing a little girl getting crushed in her hiding spot would've made anyone tense up, but Gun didn't seem all too affected by it. But she was alright and that was really all that mattered; not what could've happened. The girl quickly got up and began speaking; Gunner tilted a brow at her before offering a little shrug. <b style="color:#ffb400">"Size an' voice help,"</b> he replied, somewhat sarcastically and very lightly teasing the little thill.

<b style="color:#ffb400">"You live 'round here, kid?"</b> he asked after a moment, crossing his arms as he looked down at her. This was gonna kill his neck. But anyways, he didn't really expect to see a little girl running around the streets here, but then again she'd had her fair share of trouble already today.

  5. Jynx wilted a little at his answer, her shoulders sagging. <span style='color:blue'>"Oh. I'm probably not gonna get much bigger."</span> She contemplated ways to make herself bigger, not entirely understanding his "voice" comment, when he asked her a question. She perked up, bouncing again as she grinned brightly. <span style='color:blue'>"Nope! I live out in the Tmu Desert."</span> She wrinkled her nose adorably. <span style='color:blue'>"There aren't any nasty boys there. Just some Tmukas."</span>

She looked up and around curiously; she hadn't had any time to watch where she was going while she ran, and these buildings looked much taller than the ones where she should have been. <span style='color:blue'>'Oh well!'</span> she thought happily, turning huge, almost-adoring eyes on her savior.

<span style='color:blue'>"My name's Jynx. What's yours?"</span> Her little misadventure hadn't dampened her mood in the slightest.

ooc: No trouble at all! I don't mind waiting for really good threads. :)

    OOC: You flatter me

Such a short little girl, especially if she wasn't going to grow anymore. But then again, he was rather <i>tall</i>, so just about anyone else was short compared to him. And when they <i>were</i> taller than him, they were huge. The little thill was just a ways away from home, but he had no idea how she managed to get from there to a shithole like this, especially without more trouble than she had gotten into before. <b style="color:#ffb400">"... Right,"</b> he said, glancing back over his shoulder before returning his gaze down toward the girl.

<b style="color:#ffb400">"Gunner,"</b> he replied gruffly, moving his arms from his chest and sticking his hands into his pockets now. <b style="color:#ffb400">"Don't y' have to run on home now?"</b> he asked, his voice slightly curious. It wasn't like he wanted her to beat it, because he didn't really want her running off and getting chased around by those boys again. That'd suck and he'd probably feel a little guilty.

ooc: Nu-uh! Flattery is lying. xp

Jynx wilted just a little at his question, which seemed more to her like a subtle sign to beat it, flicking her ears back hesitantly. "Um...I s'pose." She looked at the ground, the picture of rejection, scuffing her foot on the ground thoughtfully. "I'd rather hang out with you though." She looked up hopefully, a smile quirking the corners of her mouth and threatening to turn into a grin.

OOC: I'm so sorry for the wait. And ... horrible, horrible post.

The man tilted a brow having no idea why some kid would want to spend time with him of all people. Didn't she have friends back home? Friends that weren't so terrifyingly tall and indifferent. Maybe he could be a bit nicer than usual; it wasn't every day he wont the hearts of little children. He made a sort of growling sound as he thought, finally giving in and shrugging at Jynx. "Aight, I'll take y'home later," he said in a definite tone, having made up his mind on the matter already. "Don't s'pose you got any ideas 'bout what t'do?"

  9. Re: Why can't we all just get along?

ooc: I don't mind the wait, and your post isn't horrible. So there. xp

Jynx wilted a little more when he started growling, ready to just leave him alone, when he shrugged at her and said he'd take her home later. She bounced up, grinning at him with all the joy she could muster. Which was a lot. "Um..." What could they do? "...I don't know. What would you usually do?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. Which forced her to take a step back so she could keep looking up at him at the same time; she didn't really like having a conversation with his stomach.

  10. Re: Why can't we all just get along?

OOC; Again, sorry for the um... "wait". xD

Gunner shrugged at the little girl, looking down at her and trying to wipe the irritated look off his face. He wasn't irritated at her or anything, that expression was just always there. "Not babysit little kids..." he returned thoughtfully. What he usually did wasn't deemed suitable for young 'dragons, what with playing with fire and dark magic. Not cool. After a moment he ran a hand through his hair before shrugging again, giving up on trying to think of something to do. "You choose somethin'..." Gun managed after a minute, looking down at her like he had no idea what he was doing. He didn't even think to kneel down so she didn't break her neck having a conversation with a walking building.

    ooc: XD

    ic:

Jynx frowned at him disapprovingly as he again left it up to her to decide. "That's not really very helpful." She told him, rustling her wings. Wait...her wings! Grinning at her solution to one of the problems, she jumped a little, hovering so she was eye-level with him now. He didn't seem so tall now that she wasn't staring at the underside of his chin.

Now...the other thing. Tilting her head, the little thill thought for a moment, humming to herself. "I'm kind of hungry. Want to get something to eat? She offered after a moment. Jynx failed to mention she was always hungry.

  12. Re: Why can't we all just get along?

Gun watched her curiously as she used her wings to cut the distance between them, so she wasn't looking up at him painfully. But it was a little weird and he couldn't help but frown. Wings. They were useless, ugly things. He shook his head a little at the thought before shrugging yet again at her idea. "I guess. Where do y'wanna go?" he asked in return, taking a moment to glance around them. There really weren't many good restaurants around here...

"Actually, I'll take y' to a better part'a town. They got better places there." Gunner didn't want to sit an eat at a local shithole where the food would probably be poisonous to the little thill. He turned around and headed off in a seemingly random direction, expecting the girl to follow like an obedient little pet, but he looked back to make sure she was following and not getting snatched up by a gross pedophile.

  13. Re: Why can't we all just get along?

Before she could answer his first question--she knew a restaurant closer to where she was supposed to be that had some pretty good food--he spoke again and took off, leaving her suspended in the air for a brief moment before Jynx dropped back to the ground, tucking her wings in and running after him. She practically glued herself to his side once she caught up, though not actually touching him. He didn't seem like the kind of person who would like that very much. She glanced around uneasily a few times, wishing Amaroq were there, too, but Gunner seemed just as scary as her brother. Maybe even a little scarier...

    ...Or a lot.
