Tessara, 42, 81378 In the basement of the jandarian acadamy, in a room, far into the back, was a hole in the wall, showing a tunnel of cut stone, leading far, far off, into the distance. the first to find this strange tunnel, of course, had been Del, wandering the basement as he often did. having stumbled rather unexpectadly upon this, he knew it was not there this morning, so, of course, he began a long walk down the tunnel, coming to a stone door with the words engraved upon it: sitting uppon the ground, reading the words, Del was amazed at the tale of an aincent warrior, Amazing he thought, finishing the inscription,
"Ouw!!" Corian swore as his wingtip claw caught on an edge and tweeked his wing muscles. He continued winding his sinuous form down to the basement levels. He needed to explore; this building was absolutely huge, and the old huts and shacks his old tutors used as a 'classroom' were, well, huts and shacks compared to just a single part of the Academy. He'd stumbled upon the door to the basement and just ignored the large sign on the door. "Do they actually expect me to respond to an inanimate piece of something with letters painted on them...?" Corian had been travelling for a while, randomly taking turns in the massive, labrynthine corridors, and suddenly thought to himself, Hey... I might actually be... lost. He stopped for a moment, rising up on his hind limbs and using his brighened tail flame for light to get a better view of where he was. Suddenly, a hole in a wall off the the left caught his eye. Never one to let something curious pass him by, he immediately forgot what he was thinking about the moment before and made a beeline to the hole. Woah.... that's something new ENTIRELY... Bringing his tail flame in for better viewing, he saw the corridor leading off into the distance. This was simply too much for him. He immediately set down the tunnel. Coming down the tunnel, he got to a place where it opened up quite a bit, and was startled to see another 'dragon sitting on the ground, gazing up and reading an inscription on a massive stone door. Corian read it, and absorbed it all. Antidote? What antidote? It didn't mention anything requiring an antidote in the story... He noticed again the 'dragon on the ground, and as always, dropped all sense of tact and manners to satiate his curiosity with conversation. He slunk into the coil that he used for sitting next to the other 'dragon and proferred his paw. "Greetings! I am Corian. I just happened to be running around the basement and I found that hole back there... I just had to explore, so I came down it and found this and you. Can you read this? I can, but I thought maybe you'd need some help or something. You seemed pretty absorbed in it."
Hrmmmm, annoying, Del thought, turning to see none other than the notorious bounty hunter, Its magic, it wont open, its a tomb, and don't act innocent, i remember you, mister bounty hunter. he doesn't know that it can only be opened by a firemage like myself, he may be a master thief and killer, but he doesn't know anything about magic, You can't open it with force, so don't even try.
Corian looked at the other 'dragon, his expression frozen on his face in simple incomprehension. *blink blink* "Oh... kay, whatever you say, Mister Insane Pendragon sir. Whatever you say." He looked once again at the mysterious tomb entrance, and noticed something odd about it. He knew to always follow up on his feelings and instincts, and sent out a tendril of inquisitive magic to feel the tomb's aural signature out. To his surprise, the stone lashed back at him. Corian grimaced as he absorbed the backlash. "Uhg!! Well, you could have TOLD me it was enchanted, sillyperson. And if you need to get in there, all you have to do is..." Corian raised up on his hind legs, and stood to his maximum height with his wings unfurled. He stretched out his arms, looked hard at the door, and began chanting. Tgauc sy na, yh tsyma yv udat; Sall na iyoj tsyji, iyoj takjas gudat. Ygam shi pyyjt sy nema talv ulyma Iyoj shyodhst uja nema, iyoj fell leat gjyma. Shet thunum tgauct; sha thunum thull taa. Ty nysa es ra.
You foolish mortal, you think you can simply speak and the door will open? said a voice from everywhere, You couldn't comprehend the great complexity of this one doors magic! turn back, before i must destroy you!
Corian cut off his words, blinking his now glowing red eyes in surprise. He sat down rather hard, thrashing his tail around in consternation. "Well," he said, still staring at the door, "that's certainly a new one." He turned around to look at the pendragon still sitting on the floor next to him. "Hmm. All misidentifications aside, Mr. Insane Pendragon sir, I think we should go have a look-see inside this place. The scholar within me is nearly choking on curiosity, and the mage inside me is about to pass out with anticipation of what's beyond that door. I'm open to suggestions on how to get that place opened up, if you're willing to stop staring at me like I'm going to cackle madly and suddenly reaveal my true identity (which, may I add, won't happen). Corian was looking at the door out of the corner of his eye while speaking to the other 'dragon, thinking all the while. Now... I remember that one crypt back home that only opened with certain types of elemental keys.. perhaps it's just one... or a couple... or a certain order of suggestions or exposures to elemental thaumurtagic mutations....
Only I can open the door, but not for you. he placed a hand on the door and summoned up a special spell, E un sha yma, sha khytam, sha leva, sha paush, E un haja sy vemulli ukkags ni patsemi! Listen, It is without pause that I, The spirit of the door, recognize you as the chosen one, open the door with a touch of a hand, but if the other enters, he shall perish. Hmmm, it never said it quite that way before, it reacts to who is present, interesting. It actually reacts to me because I am a decendant of said warrior, Del said, pointing toward the door,
Corian looked at the other 'dragon with a raised eyebrow. "Okay. So.... the point of me walking in there and undoubtedly getting killed (in some vastly unpleasant way, no doubt) is... what?" He sat down and began 'cleaning' the spaces between the spines on his tail while waiting for a response, every so often glancing curiously at the 'coffin'.
Go inside? grat idea, lets go, Del said, putting his hand on the door, Open, door of splendors, reveal to me the rooms of knowledge, the halls of my ancestors,
