OOC: This is a continuation (kind've) of the thread <s>Flaming</s> Flying colors in the Courtyard, but if any new 'Dragons want to join, go ahead! ^_^ Oh yes, everybody go to www.nancyband.com! BIC: Day: 15th Season: Dyo Year: 81377
Nafel Isunari Female 16 00 Creating Music (A) Elemental Magic (B) Nurano Unraja Male 20 00 Spy (A) Elemental Magic (A)
Nafel grabbed another stack of books and lugged them them to the table. Nurano did the same, but with a much larger stack of books. Nafel sighed. "We've been looking for an hour! I stll can't find that 'Spirit-form' that Aiolos was talking about! And I have yet to see that bird again." The look on her face was unusual. The bird was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen, paw down, but it was from Fronima. Fronima, the same place where those visions came from... She shook her head to bring herself out of the trance. Nurano hefted a medium sized volume to the table, and old book with a leather cover inlaid with several semi-precious stones. The only reason they were still there was that the book was probably charmed, for it wasn't a very hard thing to do so. The title was (thankfully) in modern tongue, as Nurano didn't speak Ramathian very well. "Accessing, using, and unleashing Fronima. Looks promising." He sighed and began the process that he'd been doing for two hours every day for the past three days. Flip to the index, find a subject, and find the page. Over. And over. And over. Nafel did the same, with a newer book entitled 'The Secret to Seerism' She worked in much the same painstaking way, sighing. "I hope Aiolos and Kujai show up. I send a message to Kujai a while ago, but I don't know if she got it. I think that Aiolos may be able to help us." Picking up the book, she continued with the research.

The words travelled directly to the ears of a softly humming 'dragon. A young female, blind as she was, but oddly enough in the library of her school. Because of the librarian's work on the books, Meira could read. Not in the sense that other did, seeing with their eyes, but rather with the sensitive touch of her paws. But feeling had nothing to do with the sudden curiosity she felt at hearing someone mention her blood relative's name, and in a more or less amiable tone - they weren't out to try and murder her sibling. (Not that she felt it could ever be accomplished, easily, anyway.) Curiosity overcoming her, the young adult strolls skillfully over to the noisemakers. Even being blind, her trade of sightless fighting made moving around quite easy, and she had a knack for avoiding objects. "I.. I apologize profusely if I'm interrupting, but.. I couldn't help overhearing you were looking for Aiolos? Vhaamanir, correct?" she flicks forward both ears, ken on hearing any change of position, and to listen to where the voice would come from. Her ruby eyes were not on display today; eyelids gently shut, as if asleep. It made some uncomfortable to see her blank stare, and she'd rather not offend.
//OOC: How many students go to Janardian? ^_^;; Not a ton, I don't think, but it's a pretty big school, isn't it? //BIC: Nafel looked up in surprise at hearing the new 'Dragon's voice. She hadn't realized they could be overheard, as large as the library was. She smiled at the 'Dragon, for she had a fair idea who this was. "Yes, that's the Aiolos we're looking for... Pardon me for asking, but are you the sister he mentioned? You look slightly alike, and I've heard of you..." Nafel trailed off, not wanting to offend. Nurano took this opportunity to observe the new 'Dragon. She looked young... maybe Nafel's age. Her eyes were shut, which was odd. There was a Sightless Fighting class, he knew, but he didn't think many of the 'Dragons who took it were actually blind. Maybe this was the blind 'Dragon he had heard about, who had gotten the library to get raised letters on the books. You never knew who you would meet here!
\\ OOC: *thinks* Hmmm.. I'd agree with ya, there. The most popular school, so probably also one of the biggest. (My apologies again for being rather late to this thread! ^^; ) \\ IC Meira smiles, head turning to where she'd heard the female speak, and from her voice she didn't seem too much older than herself. She also catches the small amount of surprise; 'dragons probably never realized how tiny quivers in a tone, or pauses, could greatly relay information about their mood! That was how she read her brother like an open book.. so to speak. "Yes," Meira grins happily as she speaks, "I'm Meira Vhaamanir, Aiolos' younger full-blood sister. Only sibling, as far as either of us know." she chuckles. Oddly enough, she was never afraid to admit to her surname. Aio had given it quite a bad rap, but she was determined to overcome it on her own account and achievements. "As for his mentioning me, I can only imagine what he's told you. Good or bad, most of it probably isn't true!" she giggles; Aio had a habit for letting moods get the best of him. If he was in a rare good mood, he'd crow about her accomplishments. If in his more natural ill-tempered mood, he'd grumble about any fault, real or imagined. Meira pauses a moment, and decides to go through with the next question, "I don't mean to pry.. I can hear breathing rather close, that I don't believe belongs to you.. There is another at your table?" Raised eyebrows in query also happen to flicker her eyelids open for a moment. Irises blood-red, while pupil in the center were colored murky green; she was indeed blind - rumors were true.
Nurano grinned, Nafel blushed slightly. He decided to speak up. "Aye, I'm Nurano, her friend. 'Sfar as I know, Aio hasn't said much about you to date, just that you exist." he chuckled slightly. Nafel overcame her blush. "So... do you practice in Magic? That's what we're researching... I saw a bird, from Fronima, but while I was awake. Aiolos said it was a 'Spirit-form,' whatever that is. We've been looking for the past three days, but have yet to find anything. Do you know what they are?" The last bit of her speech was said with a question in it, for Nafel was tired of giving up the greater part of her lunch every day just to finding out about the bird. 'Dragons had to eat, no matter how dedicated they aere to their research!
Meira smiles in Nurano's vague direction, "Nice to meet you!" Back to Nafel's place of existance Meira's head turns, and the young adult pauses a moment to think, "Hm. No, I've never heard of a spirit-form, but then I don't do much magic. Singing, mostly. And sightless fighting as a means of getting around." This one was about as violent as a kitten. Quite the white to Aio's black, as it were. "I'll call Kujai for you, though. She'll get Aio, as even if she's not around him, she no doubt knows where he is. I for once don't." Meira smiles triumphantly. Aiolos was incredibly over-protective of her. Before Kujai came along to blissfully occupy his time, he'd follow Meira around like a bad shadow. All because she was blind, and he didn't want anyone taking advantage of his "little" sister. (In all reality, she was on the upper scale of normal. )
Nafel's face lit up. "You sing? What songs? What range? Tell me!" This came out in a fast stream. "I write music, and I have _yet_ to meet a 'Dragon outside of my small classes who really cares about music. 'Tis tragic!" The last bit was said with a melodramatic sigh with a paw to the face, as Nurano laughed at his friend. After finishing his giggle fit Nurano spoke up again. "That would be great, if you wouldn't mind. We really need their help, and we haven't been able to track them down!" Noticing the blind 'Dragon's unsaid comment about Aiolos's overprotectiveness, he smiled. "Your brother's a bit protective? Never would've guessed, not from the way he behaves. But, I guess there are two sides to every sword..." He smiled, the reference was to his own tattoo, a sword on the flat of its blade.
Meira giggles, "I know! It's really quite disasterous. But I sing to try and make 'dragons smile, not really earn a living off of it, though I'm told I should." she shrugs humbly, an ironic little smile at the corner of her lips. "As for my range.." she proceeds to riff a chain of notes with the sound of "ah" from the bottom of her range, to the upper, stuttering every now and then to make the ascent enjoyable to listen to. Finishing with a soft fade-away, she smiles, "Soprano, with a bit of Alto in me, too. Trained to use every bit of my range, so there aren't any holes or sour notes." She loved to sing. To Nurano she nods enthusiastically, "Oh, quite. Pain, he is. Or was. I'm hoping I can say 'was' from now on. I swear, he would walk me to my classes, and from them, and follow me around anywhere I went. He'd supervise conversations, even if he didn't put a word in. I felt like some sort of prisoner, really. And I thought I was out of the jailhouse when I left home. Nup. They sent a jailer with me." a contorted sigh escapes, and the young adult shakes her head, "He was only doing it to protect me, though little did he know, I didn't need all his protection." she chuckles. Their parents and relatives weren't a close knit happy family. They were distant and unkind, at least when Aio was a pup. No one to watch out for him, caused many close calls, and near-death escapes. Their obliviousness more or less caused his taut cynicism. Then Meira was hatched, and because of her blindness, she wasn't left alone any minute of the day. Maybe they thought they were making up for their "mistake" on Aio, by never giving her privacy. It now drove her crazy to be assisted by anyone, or to be given advice on something she had not asked, though she was usually far to polite to mention it.
Nafel grins. "I shall have to write some music for you to sing! Your voice is lovely, by the way. I can write music, but I can't sing a note of it. 'Tis a pity!" Nurano nods in sypathy. His relatives, being very close knit, had always been kind've protective. The only ones that _hadn't_ been like that had been his parents, a Spy and a Lockpick. They had known he was quite cabable of taking care of himself, he was their child, after all! "I've had a few experiences with worried aunts, worried uncles, worried grandparents... Eurgh. The only ones that didn't bother me were my parents! They were a Spy and a Lockpick, so they knew quite well that I was able to take care of myself, or run if I couldn't." Taking advantage of the small pause, Nafel speaks up again. "Do you know when Aio or Kujai is going to be here...? This is lovely, but we kind've need them, especially Aio. They actually _know_ what we're looking for, unlike ourselves." She smiled, for she would like to speak more with her newfound friend, but her lunch ends soon, and she can only get away with skipping class today, because today it's a study hall assignment, not actual work.
Meira smiles at Nurano's obvious same-mindedness on the matter of being shadowed unecessarily, and turns her head back to Nafel's direction, "I'll check for you!" Smiling as she angles her muzzle down at the ground, telepathing Kujai. She'd reach out to Aiolos as well, but that would likely put him in a bad mood, and her new friends wouldn't be able to get more than a growl out of him. Meira chuckles suddenly, and turns her head back up, "Kujai's in a very good mood. Thank goodness." she smirks, if they knew Kujai, they had to have seen her tempest mood swings, "And she's havng a blast being in Janardan - she's never been inside before, so Aio's showing her the way to the library." She doesn't get to say much more, as Aiolos and a giddy Kujai, following not too far behind, come through the entrance. While she couldn't see them, she could tell two bodies had entered, and from the main entrance, and the relative sizes of both. There was no mistaking the behemoth known best as her brother. Aiolos strolls over to their table as if uninterested. His interest piques as he peers at the book Nafel had opened. "As I'm sure you've surmised, that book won't get you anywhere in your research." Kujai jabs him with a claw, then smiles brightly at Nurano and Nafel, "Good afternoon! I'll say it, as he's to busy being rude." She jabs him again, for good measure. Aiolos doesn't even flinch, he was busy scanning the isles of books from where he was standing. Meira just giggles softly, shaking her head at the pair. Brash, crude, rude, and both with equal flaming tempers. Their children would no doubt be monsters...! Lil' spice to life they provided, though!
OOC: This is not at all related, but I jsut thought of something... What Aio's reaction to being told that Kujai was preggers might be, lol. I think something would be set on fire, yep. Whee! Sugar! BIC: Nafel smiled. "Thanks, Meira! Hi Kujai, Aiolos." She waved to both of them, as Nurano nodded in their direction. Sighing, Nafel placed the offending book back onto the table. "This stupid thing doesn't have a word about them! Gah!" Nurano spoke up. "Having fun with learning your way around, Kujai?" He smled at Kujai's giddy demeanor, it was much better then having her sullen. What a pair they made, and that was without children! If either one inherited their parent's tempers, Nurano could only imagine the chaos in _that_ hosue. Nafel, responding to Kujai's polite querry, spoke up again. "Good afternoon to you, too. Have you and Aio been up to anything since we last spoke? I haven't heard of anything being set on fire, so I'm guessing everything's been all right." Nurano chuckled, stretching his arms.
\\ OOC: mwahaha! Yes, he'd be shell shocked, that's for sure! Depending on what was happening, he'd probably either get really quiet and set something on fire, or get really psycho and set something on fire. Something is gonna burn either way! *cackles* \\ IC "Oh, yes, quite!" Kujai exclaims to Nurano. "Who knew a bunch of underground tunnels could be so well lit and airy!" Aiolos wanders off, eyes dedicated to a certain point on the shelf about half the library away. Apparently he'd remembered where the information was! Meira chuckles at Kujai, "Yup, the creators and designers of Janardan were quite something. Fresh air is pumped to all the underground levels, and lighting and everything is run by machina." The blind young adult pauses and cuts in conversation with a mild whisper, "Where did Aio go?" "Hm? Oh! Over there somewhere." Kujai waves a paw absently in Aiolos' direction. She often forgot his sister was blind, because she neither treated people differently for their odd traits (as she, herself, had two rather noticible odd traits! ) and Meira hated being treated as a child. Meira chuckles, but says nothing more, she'd wait until Aio returned. As for Kujai, she was sure that the adult 'dragon was no doubt dancing in place with this ability to wander Janardan and not be a student nor teacher. Kujai grins devilishly at the question, "We've been up to quite a few things, none of which included anything newsworthy. We took a transport the other day to Bhim. Lovely place, that is." Kujai flashes another grin at Nurano, who would probably be the only other 'dragon in the room who could understand the beauty of being with "your own kind" that is, the secretive and/or the rejected. She looks back to Nafel, "I'll avoid the stupid question in asking if you've had any luck, so, what've you been doing the past three days?" Kujai smiles, happy to make conversation today, while Aiolos was busy searching through age-old books.
OOC: Woo! Flames! I went to The Coca-cola plant today. It's one giant Advertisement, but they give you free Coke products! I'm now addicted to Smart, a Chinese Watermellon Flavored Drink. It rocks! ^_^ BIC: Nafel nodded in agreement as Meira spoke of the creators of their school. This was a very comfortable building, especially when compared to the caves she had grown up in. Nurano grins evilly at the mention of his favorite shady place. "Ah, Bhim. Who can beat the lovely smell of chaos, stolen goods, and illegal items? Just a peachy place! I've had to go there for... homework a couple of times. Great fun, those lot are." In response to Kujai Nafel answered. "We've been looking for any mention of Spirit-forms in these books on Fronima. As you can see, we've found zilch. We didn't want to ask the librarian about it, for fear of getting booted, or being marked as dabbling in things we shouldn't be. Thankfully, Aio seems to know what we need." Nafel peered around the corner to make sure she could still see him. Nurano spoke again to Kujai. "So, find any 'interesting' 'Dragons in Bhim? Its got some very colorful folk, from what I've seen." He smiled, for 'Colorful' was one way to describe the con artists and illegal wares sold in that marketplace. You'd be hard pressed to find a mroe 'intersting' group of 'Dragons on Ramath-lehi! He chuckled mentally.
\\ OOC: Neat! Never been there, myself, but I've heard a lot about it. Yesterday I went up to the Tenn. Aquarium (in Chattanooga) which was fun. Today I think we're going to some other museums. \\ IC Kujai giggles at Nurano, "Oh, most definitely. You can pitch a fit, and nobody'll bat an eye.. or, rather, they will, they just won't care! And if you come out the victor, you get a bit more respect coming out of there, as you went in with." she grins at his other question, "Interesting doesn't quite cut it, I'm afraid. Many rather unique individuals that Aio and I had a fun time.. hmm.. sparring." Kujai's devilish grin returns, but she says no more for the time being, as Aiolos returns, a stack of books floating in front of him as he walks - his levitation spell. "These, I believe, should be of some assistance to you. Unfortunately, two of the four are in Ramathian, which I can translate, if you need it. The librarian has done a marvelous job translating the books here, but these I think she overlooked on purpose." He lays the two in question out on the table. Engraved on the front of both leather-bound books was ramathian writing, with no translation anywhere. "The first means 'The Unknown' and the second is 'Secrets of the Gods'." Aiolos offers in translation, leaving it up to them to decide which to tackle first, the two in ramathian, or the two others in modern tongue. Meira and Kujai, meanwhile, were silent, Kujai looking at the four books laying on the table surface, and Meira, in her own way, looking at them as well. She looks up to where she believes Aiolos is, "Aio, do you want the oldest of the four? I can tell which is oldest, if it'll help.." Acute sense of smell, of course. Aiolos smiles - just a bit - and waits for Nafel and Nurano's input. It was, after all, their quest for answers, and he wasn't about to steal the show from them.
OOC: Cool! I love aquariums. ^_^ Fish rock! BIC: Nafel spoke up. "I can speak some Ramathian. Spell words, and common phrases. Maybe enough to get through the book, I don't know. Nurano can't speak much besides spell words, and only a few of those at that. Maybe we should tackle the Modern ones. You speak Ramathian, and can read it, so maybe you should take one of the older two. Do either of you guys speak Ramathian?" She gestured to Kujai and Meira. Nurano nodded in agreement. "Yes, I'm no good at Ramathian, I do all my spells through thought." Looking at Kujai he grinned. "Sparring, is it? Sounds... fun." He grabbed the Modern book on top, and looked for instructions.
\\ OOC: I know, the Tenn. Aquarium has sea horses as their main exibit. They were so cool. Also saw the 3D IMAX film 'Ghosts of the Abyss' (or 'Ghosts of the Deep'... I can't remember whether it was abyss or deep. LOL) which was about the Titanic. That was both sad, uplifting, and funny, all rolled into one. And today we went down to the Michael C. Carlos Museum, which is in Atlanta, inside Emory University, today. Saw Rameses I actual mummy! It was awesome. If you get a chance, you should go down and see him, 'cause he leaves for Egypt sometime in September. (Don't remember when, says the exact date on the web site) Needless to say.. I'm gonna go take a nap.. \\ IC Meira giggles and shakes her head, "No, I can't, which is something Aio used to try and get me to learn. I think he's given up, by now." Aiolos allows himself to smirk at his younger sister. Yes, he had given up. Meira believed that if she was going to learn another language it would be best to see the words. Since she couldn't see the words, she certainly couldn't (or rather wouldn't) learn. Kujai shakes her head, "Nor me, book learning was for skinny wimps as my opinion used to be when I was of schooling age.." she casts a sly glance at Aiolos. Aiolos was certainly no skinny wimp, quite the opposite with his large build and muscular frame, and she'd put her bet on more intelligent than most. She looks back to the pair, "Which of course, that opinion has changed." she grins. Aiolos puts a paw on one book, and Meira, ears flicked forward murmurs, "Mmm-mmm. No, not that one. The other one's older." Aiolos, without so much as a second's hesitation reaches for the other, and begins to read. Kujai looks at Meira, wondering absently how she did it. As if sensing the silent question, Meira explains, "I can pinpoint sounds." she shrugs. She attributed that to her sightless fighting training, but then, ever since she was young did she have an acute ability for listening. \\ OOC: Who of the three that're looking do you want to find it, and what should it say?
OOC: I saw billboards for that exibit, lol! It's Abyss. My class was supposed to go see the movie in Tulsa, but... the IMAX screen was broken, or something. Instead, we got to watch Holes. ^_^ Lessee... I guess Kujai should find it? She could be readint over someone's shoulder or sommat. ^_^ BIC: Nafel grinned at the exchange between the two lovers. Looking to Kujai, she spoke. "Do you want to read with me, and see if you spot something unusual? I might miss something while skimming. Nurano looked at Meira. "Hey, do you want to work with me? I can read to you, so I don't have to pay attention, but if you hear something I can look further into it. I'm bad at reading and actuallly remembering information." He chuckled, that problem had brought him no end of grief from teachers who liked to lecture. Nafel spoke up again. "I guess poor Aio will have to look through both the Ramathian tomes. 'Tis a pity, but you're the only one who can read them. Well, let's get to work, shall we?" Nafel applied herself to the text, not noticing if Kujai joined her.
\\ OOC: *noddles* Great IMAX. There's another IMAX, I'm pretty sure it's 3D, besides in Chattanooga, in the Mall of Georgia. (Which is.. a hour and a half, two hours away..? eek, I don't remember) It's south east of here, on the other side of Atlanta. LOL. And then there's a regular IMAX theatre inside Fernbank Museum (which is around the corner from Emory). Fernbank is awesome, they have their own museum, and then science center with a planetarium. \\ IC Aiolos nods, and open the books, beginning to read feverishly. Due to years of practice reading tons of books on breaks, he'd learned to speed-read, with a high level of comprehension retained. Meira takes Nurano's offer to listen to his reading, and stand up, nimbly moving around their table to sit near him, where she could listen best, and be distracted least from other everyday noises. Kujai is the only one left out, and after a moment of nail tapping and clicking on both the table, she goes to start up a magic display - by calling her black and purple flame into a palm. Aio, sensing this, shoots her a 'not in Janardan' look, she she stops, now pouting at not being able to do what she pleases. Thankfully, this didn't put too much of a damper on her mood, but she was going to fidgit some way or another, she she decides to read over shoulders. Meira had Nurano's shoulder covered, so the first book she peers at is the ramathian one Aiolos is looking at. After a few moments, she scrunches her nose up and huffs in a whisper which those at the table would have heard if they were listening, "Good grief, how can you possibly read that scribble?! No wonder Ramathian is a dying language.." Aiolos gives her a long side glance, and before he can offer any retort, she grins largely and cheekily, and moves on to look at whatever Nafel was reading. The golden pendragon looks carefully at the paper of the tome, and the modern scrawlings inside it. Not being a patient 'dragon, at least for this moment, she starts looking around the room, as Nafel, undoubtedly, continues reading. Bored with the silence, and eager to explore the underground school she looks back, hoping one of them had finished, or was as bored as she, so she could ask them to take her around. However, before she can open her mouth to question those present, a particular phrase catches her eye, "Hey.. isn't that what you're after?" pointing to the particular spot on the page.
OOC: I went to the Natural History museum, which was really nifty. My dad works at Emory, so that's kind've the area around which I spent my first days in Atlanta, lol. BIC: Nafel paused, and looked at Kujai. "What..? Did you say you saw something?" Nafel looked at the page, in the area where Kujai was pointing. Skimming over it, she paused. Gasping, she yelled out "Fronima! You found it!" She grinned, begginning to read aloud. "A Spirit-form is in essence the magic of a soul. They are very rare however. This is because Spirit-forms are the result of a magician deviding him/herself from his/her magic. Oftentimes, this occurs at a young age. This may be the result of trauma or suppresion of magic. Powerful 'Dragons can reunite themselves, in a sense, with their Spirit-forms. If the mage decides to accept magic, then the creature appears from Fronima during workings. Oftentimes this is not even noticed by the 'Dragon in question, because the existence of such things are so rare that one doesn't look out for them. Once seperate, a mage cannot reunite his/her magic with his/her soul, so the Spirit-form must be present for most workings." Nurano gaped. "That's what that thing was? Your magic?" He was confused, to say the least. He never had heard of such a thing, much less in Janardian. Such creatures were the stuff of legend! He blinked. "Wow... what could've caused you to seperate yourself from... oh." Seeing the look on Nafel's face, he stopped. She had mentioned visions from Fronima, nightmares, as a child. Would that have been enough to drive her magic away, until maturity? Nafel spoke, in awe. "I never showed any of the signs of powerful magic, the magic of the rest of my family. Once I got here I was able to work magic again, away from my home. Wow..." She looked glassy eyed. Nurano spoke again. "So, Aiolos... what d'you think about this? You know more then we do."
\\ OOC: Gaw, lucky! I love that part of Atlanta. The subdivisions (I guess they could be called) around Emory and Fernbank are gorgeous with all the trees and flowers. The only thing that bugs me about that part of town are the narrow roads, I drive the family suburban when I need to, which is huge, so it's a nerve-wracking experience on all those narrow roads, hoping I don't clip a mailbox, car, or drive over a curb when taking a turn. LOL! In other news.. got contacts today! *grins* They feel astonishingly good! I thought they'd itch or something. Nope! Now I have to go out and buy some non-rx sunglasses, since all I had before was a sunglasses clip to put over glasses. hehe \\ IC Aiolos offers a small smile, as he never was one to grin big, and speaks softly and gently, though not whispering, "I would say you need to do a little soul searching." he nods slowly. "If this is indeed your spirit-form, then you have to try it out." He opens his mouth to explain what he means, then looks at Nurano, "The being, presumably Nafel's magic, appeared to you as well, correct? You can probably be present, to watch, from a close distance, for the appearance of the creature. Nafel, you'll need to do some large magical spell. Do you know any?" he would teach her, and Nurano as well, while he was at it, something large and menacing; something that used enough power that would require the avian to appear, if she didn't know any. Meira and Kujai look and listen on, knowing this conversation was too important to put any comment in at present.
