Quarter: Tessera Day: 36 Year: 81377 Done with classes for the day, Kaere stepped into her dorm room, trying not to notice the dead silence within. The room was large, intended for three students, although there were only two beds at the moment and one was unnocupied. She'd had no luck finding a spot in a room that already had at least one occupant, as the other students all seemed to have their friends and roomies lined up with no room for an interloper like herself. That's paranoid, Kae, she thought to herself, but her mind remained unconvinced. She padded over to her desk, pushed in the corner against her bed. Despite the spaciousness of the room, Kae's stuff all huddled in one corner. She was used to close quarters, and actually felt a bit exposed with all this empty space. She hopped onto her chair and glanced out the window. Students milled around the ground below. All of them seemed to be in groups of two or more, talking and laughing with each other. Kae sighed, and her black-furred ears drooped. Suddenly, her gray-green eyes sharpened, and a determined expression came over her face. "I'll do it myself," she whispered, and practically tore the desk's drawer off its hinges in her haste to get it open. She grabbed a plain sheet of paper and a black marker. Grasping the marker in her golden-furred left paw, she scribbled something onto the paper. When she finished, she put the marker back in the drawer and found a thumbtack. Walking over to her dorm room's door, she firmly tacked the paper to the outside. Anyone passing by the door would be able to notice the large black letters on the makeshift sign: 1 or 2 Roomates wanted! Either male or female! Speak to Kaere Giskard! Looking at her sign, she smiled. Perhaps it was a bit too forward or pushy, but her days of being the quiet, friendless young pendragon were soon to be at an end.
Cesar ran down the stairs, his long legs skipping two at a time. He adjusted the bag on his back and slowed down as he entered the long hallway before him. He scratched his head, his stunning blue orbs darting as they searched for his room. They had assigned it to him. He would have a dorm-mate or two. At least it was free. Then, he found it: The Room. He knocked, and looked at the female expectantly. "Sorry, you don't get to choose who's with you, and I don't get to choose my room either. So it's fair." He stammered, looking at Kaere. "I'm Cesar." He offered his hand to her as he dropped his bag onto the bed.
Wandering through the halls, Moonbrook glanced at all the numbers on the doors. She counted them dully in her head. 131...132...133... Moonbrook growled at her luck. She still had to live in a hotel off campus. It smelled of old cigarette smoke and the odd smell that something died or something. She shoved her blue flamed hands into the front pocket on her sweatshirt and marched on down the halls. It was her free period and she had nothing better to do. The sound of music drifted into her ears as she passed by some rooms. Other rooms were quiet. She suddenly found herself at a door that said: 1 or 2 Roomates wanted! Either male or female! Speak to Kaere Giskard! A large grin swept over the teen's face as she giggled in happiness. Clutching her bookbag closer, she hesataintly knocked on the door. Hybrid orbs glittered with hope that she would be accepted.
Cesar looked over to the new arrival with raised eyebrows. He grinned to himself, feeling lucky. Almost like he'd hit the jackpot. I'll be in the same room as these two little girls.. As he unpacked his bags, already making himself welcome, he watched the two females pacing about in the room in sheer joy. He pulled off his loose white tee-shirt, revealing a tight, black muscle top. It was somewhat short on his long, lithe torso, and showed a sliver of his red and black boxers. An impressive studded belt surrounded his lower midriff, over his dark baggy jeans.
Moonbrook walked cautiously into the dorm. She cast a glance at the male and smiled kindly and added a little wave to it. Looking around, she adjusted her bag and stared around. With a heavy sigh, Moonbrook walked over to the male and tapped him on the shoulder. Hybrid gold and blue eyes glittered back at him inquistivly. Soo...where's the owner of this dorm?
With a big shrug and sigh, Cesar threw his hand in the air. As if I care. He looked down at her, his pair of royal blue eyes narrowing. He shook his head and looked away, back to his bag. Slowly, he pulled out books, clothes, old stationery, and the like, throwing it all into random drawers under his bed and onto his small wooden nightstand. "This is some cheap-ass furniture, if y'ask me," Cesar mumbled, looking over to Moonbrook, as if expecting a reply.
Kae grinned as the two 'dragons entered the room. She had been about to give up hope that anyone would come along to fill the two empty spots in the dorm room, and now here came two roommates, practically simultaineously. She reared up on her hind legs and offered her paws in greeting to the two newcomers. "Hello. I'm Kaere Giskard, but you can call me Kae if you'd like." She watched as the male, who had dark fur and looked around her age, began to unpack. Then she turned her gaze to the female, who looked to be younger than Kae and had luxurious, beautiful snow-white fur. Kae made a note that both of the other 'dragons wore clothing and seemed to prefer walking on their hind legs -- something that most 'dragons simply didn't have the balance for, as they had evolved as a quadrupedal species. Kae herself could not stand on her hind legs for more than a few minutes at a time, as when she had been a pup, her father had considered it "freakish behavior" and had punished her and her brother whenever they had tried it. Now, Kae was impressed by her two new roommates' abilities... and by the fact that both of them wore clothes, another "affectation" that Seheiruu Giskard, patriarch of the family and pendragon purist, had forbidden his two cubs to partake in. Kaere sat back and curled her tail around her paws. She watched Cesar and the female, whose name she did not yet know, for a few moments before she spoke again, quietly. "I'm honored to meet you, Cesar, and you too..." she looked at the female, noticing for the first time that her eyes were two different colors. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name." She smiled her best friendly smile and waited for the two to get settled in.
ooC: Just so you know, Cesar can shift to his quadruped form anytime he wishes, it's nothing permanent.. biC: Cesar lay on the bed, throwing his empty duffel bag onto the carpeted floor. He raised his hands and joined them behind his head, closing his eyes as he lay back onto the pillow. He didn't want to sleep, he was just avoiding the stupid homework. He planned on skipping whatever class he'd have tomorrow. "So, what are you two up to tonight? Going out?" The tall male asked, barely opening his eyes, an inquiring grin upon his handsome face.
Kaere straightened up, swiveling her long black ears towards her new dorm-mate. She felt a little startled by his forwardness, but perhaps that was how most 'dragons acted. "I, ah..." She realized that she was speaking too quietly, and flicked an ear in annoyance at her own bad habit. She tried again. "Actually, I've only been living in the dorms a short while, myself. I used to live off-campus with... with my family. I have to admit I'm unfamiliar with the ways of most students... what is there to do after classes? I usually just stay in and study." Her green-gray eyes widened as she thought about the possibilities. She had, of course, seen many pendragons wandering about campus, just hanging out, but had never dared to join them herself. She hopped onto her own bed and looked at her two new roommates eagerly.
The perky snow-white female placed her backpack on her bed and sat at the edge of it. Her ear flicked as she smiled kindly at the quadruped female. Tail curled over her lap and she played with the tip absentmindedly. The icy-blue flames on her hands burned with friendly baby blue color. Moonbrook looked up again and a large smile crossed her visage. Pleased to meet ya! I'm Moonbrook but I have a lot of nicknames which I really don't wanna recite right now. You can make up your own if ya want. She giggled and smiled again. Moon stopped playing with her tail and placed her hands at her side, reclining into them. Crossing her legs infront of her, she fell back onto the bed. She spread her arms over the sheets as she sighed. It had seemed like forever that she was living in that dump of a hotel. Upon hearing her roommates talking again, she sat up abruptly. Dual colored orbs glittered back at them both. I don't know...I haven't really been around lately. Living in a hotel can have it's downsides. She grimaced at the though. Yeah, like getting home 2 hours after school ended to find your stuff ransacked by the damn maids. Yeah. That's a downside.
Cesar sat up, each of his hands cupping over his knees. He grinned conceitedly at each of them. "It's ain't like I was askin' either of y'out," and lifted his legs over the edge of the bed, opening a drawer and pulled out a black hoodie. Pulling it over his head, and added, "Just seeing what kinda' stuff there is to do around here... There ain't much choice, is there?" He scratched his head. " Study..." He mumbled mockingly. "Any heaters in here? I really don't like bein' cold." He rubbed his arms slowly.
Moonbrook smiled and giggled at Cesar's statement. Her ears flicked again as her hybrid orbs turned to stare out the window. The small female shivered in her dark blue hoodie as she looked around the dorm. Finding the knob she was looking for, the perky female jumped off the bed and dashed towards it. She twisted it on high and sat down infront of it smiling contentedly. For being an ice 'dragon, she sure didn't seem like it at the moment. One would assume that was why there were blue FLAMES on her front hands. Looking up, she grinned triumphantly at Cesar. I got the heat...mmm...heat.
((OOC: weird question, but would the two of you mind if I drew pictures of your characters based on your profile descriptions? I've been on a hiatus from drawing for a few months now due to my workload, and now I've got a bit of a break and I want to draw again :} )) Kae smiled, feeling a bit self-conscious. "Sorry it's not more exciting around here," she said. "I must admit to my own ignorance as to the typical social activities of my peers." She suddenly realized she sounded like a stuffed intellectual. She stifled a grin in her paws and looked at the two other 'dragons. "Sorry. I sounded pretty ridiculous there, didn't I? I guess I'm just pretty embarassed that I'm so naïve about the world." She turned around on her bed, fluffing her pillow as an excuse to busy herself momentarily. Then, she looked over her shoulder and cocked an ear in Moonbrook's direction. "I don't mean to pry," she said softly, "but why were you situated in a hotel for so long? I'm sorry if I'm being impolite by asking... it's just that it's not a situation I'm familiar with." Kae turned the rest of the way around again, tilting her large ears forward. Moonbrook's fur was beautiful; Kae could barely imagine anyone placing the female 'dragon in such decrepit-sounding surroundings.
OOC: Wow, you really want to draw Moonbrook without me asking? Sorry, I've just never gotten that before. OF COURSE YOU CAN! -clings- You are my new bestest friend! From her postition on the floor, MB gazed up at her fellow roommates and soon to be friends. A content smile was evident on her visage as her hybrid gold and blue orbs glittered. The heat was welcoming to the snow white female's back and she reached a ice-flamed paw to touch it. It was hot. MB didn't know why, she just liked to touch hot things. An obsession? Maybe. There was one thing that was for sure, she was a weird 'dragon but friendly nonetheless. MB suddenly giggled but soon blushed and fell silent. Randomness was an everyday thing in her little world. At the sound of Kae's voice, she turned to her and listened. At the end of her question, MB waved a hand infront of her dimissivly. It's alright. I don't mind you asking. Well the reason is that...well. Ok, down to the point. Basically I've had to sneek into the School under another 'dragons name for this past semester. They were already registered and all that. So I couldn't get a dorm because I though that they would begin to ask questions. I did it because my family couldn't afford sending me here officially until recently.
ooC: 'Course I don't mind. ^^; Thanks a lot, in advance! You have very nice art. biC: Cesar's eyes darted back and forth, from Moonbrook to Kae, as he held back a sneer. Well I'm gonna be living with two lil' nerds... He shook his head, wishing he had moved in with some 'cooler' females. He had been rubbing his hands together to warm them up, and now parted them, approaching them to the heat. "That's a hell of a lot better, you know what I'm sayin'? Can't get sleep if you're cold." He paused, and looked up at the two. "That is if you two actually want to sleep." He smiled slyly, his lips slightly parting, his eyes narrowing. "We could get outta' here and go to a club, or somethin'. How about it?"
MB caught the fleeting glimpse of Cesar holding back a sneer. Hybrid orbs glittered with sudden coldness in his direction as she too held back a glare. Instead, she spoke in ramathian tounge under her breath. It was low and angery yet as quiet as a whisper. Lessla majp un E? Leca hall iyo punm gjag. Moonbrook added a little smirk to the end of that. She was overly glad she was studying languages. At Cesar's question, the perky 'dragon stood and nodded. Even though she was still slightly fumed about the little expression she recieved from Cesar, Moonbrook didn't turn down the chance to go out all night. A sly smirk crossed her maw as she walked up to Cesar. Sound's good.
Cesar's eyes narrowed with slight malice in MB's direction as he heard her mumbling. She's probably jumping to her own stupid conclusions... He would remember that. But still, he was quite glad he wouldn't be alone that night. His angry glare returned to normal as he turned to look at Kae, awaiting her reply.
Kaere tilted one black-furred ear in Moonbrook's direction, catching the sound of the other female's Ramathian. Having spent much of her own studies learning from highly-educated professors, Kae knew the language decently well. Her eyes, still focused on Moonbrook, missed Cesar's slight reaction, but she fancied that she could sense his displeasure nonetheless. Was she a nerd? Kae found that she didn't mind the appellation as much as she thought she might, but she also felt a vague species of determination to prove Cesar at least partially wrong. Despite his painfully obvious, glaring ego, Kae found Cesar interesting; he was similar in some respects to her father, who had had a complete lack of unsurety. Kae decided to indulge in two new things at once: "Hell," she said, the first time she had allowed herself to utter a 'bad' word, "why not? I'd love to go." Adventurousness... another first. She grinned. "Where are we off to?" ((OOC: and just another question... if/when we do mosey off somewhere else, should we start a new thread in a different category? That'll also let other people hop in, too, which would be cool :} ))
Raising his eyebrows slightly impatiently, he flopped back onto the bed, his back toward them. "I donno where exactly, jus' outta here. The whole damn academy, not just the dorm, either. There's gotta be some clubs 'round here, right?" And allowed himself to close his eyes, not sleeping, but listening to the sounds coming from the surrounding walls, ignoring the two girls in his room at the same time. Time passed, about an hour. (ooC: Hope ya don't mind me advancing this a little ^-^' And he stood up, stretched, pulled his hood on. The sounds of stirring, stepping, and speaking had completely ceased, and now was the right time to sneak out. What Cesar was sure of, after a few months of spying and lurking around, was that the only 'guards' around here were the janitors, that would be coming to clean the hallways in a couple hours. "You girls ready, I hope?" He slowly turned the door knob and looked out of the room. The hallway lights were dimmed and there was no one there. For a moment, he stared at the door that led out of Janardan. That was another reason Cesar took this room, because it was so close to a direct exit.
OOC: Sounds good to me Lakota. And I don't mind Izzo. Moonbrook had walked into the bathroom to get ready. Opening up a drawer, she started her search for a brush and maybe some other things as well. The loud pounding and slamming of doors was evident as she looked. Finally finding the small but workable hair brush, she smiled and began to brush her blue tipped hair into a straighter, more neater manner. Walking out of the bathroom, she unzipped her bag and grabbed some of her toiletries before waltzing back into the bathroom. Moonbrook proceeded to do the normal things that 'dragons do when going out for the night. Such as brushing her teeth and wiping her face. After that was through, she tied her hair back in a pony tail and let two strands of her bangs hover infront of her face. Nodding to herself in the mirror, she walked back out and turned off the light. 1 Hour later. Pulling her favorite black sweatshirt over her head, she looked over at Cesar and Kae with a smile. The young female had snuck out like this many times before when she was younger so she hoped the others had done the same. Walking up to Cesar, she looked out the door as well. All clear. Let's hit it.
