Timestamp: Tria 45, second period Turrush adjusted the perch on the familiar table, awaiting the arrival of his student for her make up lesson. <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Short, but I donÂ’t want to get into it until IÂ’m teaching.</td></tr></table>
Illucien walked the now familiar path, one eye on the ground a head of her, and the other on the bird perched on her shoulder. She had studied her instruction sheets carefully, and practiced until she felt she had gotten it down pat. Nyote had shyed away from her touch at first, but slowly warmed up to her as she got aquainted with him. The bird was anxious, shifting his weight from one foot to another and testing the give of the jess. If it wasn't for her grip on the jess and lead, and the hood over his eyes, Nyote would have been gone in a flash. In her free hand, the falconer's bag she had been given was held. It held the equipment Turrush had given her last time. Illucien saw Turrush at his table and headed for him, greeting her teacher with a small nod.
"Welcome back, Illucien." Turrush nodded to the perch. "Place your bird on the perch. IÂ’ll check the Jess." <span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td>Short, sorry about that. People are here.</td></tr></table>
<span style='width:100%;font-weight:bold; font-size:10px'>Out of Character</span> <table class=ooc><tr><td> XD S'okay, mine's short too</td></tr></table> Illucien nodded and placed Nyote on the perch, the trisk automatically stepping onto it as soon as his feet connected with the object.
Turrush looked at the little hawk and gave it a clear command. "Lad" And once the little bird offered it’s leg, he examined the attachment of the jess. "Looks good. You’ve learned well." Turrush nodded then held out his arm and took his own hawk onto his wrist. "Now, I’ll give you the commands, let you try them, and send you on your way. First command is ‘Stay’. In ramathian it’s ‘Tsui’. Now, to train the command, you take the bird and place it on the ground." He coaxed the little gold and white bird onto the ground gently. "Then you give them the command Tsui very clearly and move away about 5 feet. Then you go back and reward the bird." as he spoke, Turrush demonstrated the steps to the command. "As the bird gets more comfortable, you go father away until you’re at the end of your 15’ lead. Give it a try."
Illucien nodded, and removed coaxed Nyote onto her wrist. Removing his hood, she gently stroked his breast and murmured encouragement to the agitated animal. It took a little encouragement for her to get him to step off her wrist and onto the ground. She gave him one more stroke then said the command. <span style='color:gray'>"Tsui."</span> and began to step back. For a moment Nyote looked as if he was about to follow her, <span style='color:gray'>"Tsui."</span> she repeated. He cocked his head and relaxed marginally, settling down. When Illucien had reached the designated distance, she waited a moment, then returned to her bird. <span style='color:gray'>"Dyyp qyr Nyote, baji dyyp qyr."</span> she cooed, running her fingers over his back. Illucien straightened and offered the command again <span style='color:gray'>"Tsui."</span> feeling confident she backed away, until she was roughly 10 or so feet from the bird. Nyote seemed slightly bothered by the increased distance, but didn't move. She again waited for a second, then headed back to him. <span style='color:gray'>"Baji dyyp, iyo'ja u tnujs rejp, ujm's iyo?"</span> she muttered to the trisk, strokeing the downy feathers on his neck. She repeated the process once more, going right to the end of the lead. Nyote didn't move, and she praised him thoroughly. Illucien turned to Turrush. <span style='color:gray'>"How was that?"</span> she asked, picking Nyote up on her arm. The small hawk puffed up his plumage, obviously pleased with himself.
"Excellent. The other command is alot easier. Try having her stay, then hold out your arm and tell her 'Kyna'. It means come. she should fly to you without problems. I'd think she'll come easy since she's getting attached. Give that a try."
Illucien nodded and gave Nyote another stroke before setting him down on the ground. <span style='color:gray'>"Tsui." </span>she said. She went to the limits of the lead, and held out her arm, offering her wrist to the small hawk. <span style='color:gray'>"Nyote, kyna!"</span> she said loudly. The avian took off, eagerly heading for the available perch of her arm. The male landed softly, and immediatly began side-stepping his way up her arm. He perched on her shoulder, leaning into the seemingly safe hollow created by her neck and hair. Illucien reached up and murmured tidbits of praise to him, gently stroking his side. She looked to Turrush, expecting his input.
"Well done. Now you just need to practice so the two of you are ready for your next lesson, which is on the 48th. At the rate you're moving, you should definetly be ready to join the class in a few more lessons." He nodded to his student, smiling slightly. He was pleased with the fact that Illucien was devoting herself to the classes as required to catch up.
Illucien nodded and gathered up her bag. She left Nyote where he was, he seemed calm enough to make the trip home on her shoulder. Besides, she still had a grip on the lead; he wasn't going anywhere. <span style='color:gray'>"See you next time."</span> Illucien said quietly, and she started off for the Acadmey buildings, eager for more time to bond with her bird.
