  1. I'm not sure how many of you might have heard about this by now, but I thought it was interesting and worth sharing.

    http://www.blackle.com/http://www.blackle.com/</a>

<table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'>Heap Media, the Australian company behind Blackle, claims black pixels take less power than white and so using its search saves energy.</td></tr></table>

That's right, it's just like Google, but black (and without Googles other features). They say they're saving energy but I've already come across a few counter arguments to it's use.

So what do you guys think? Would you make the switch to save energy? Do you think it's saving energy? Would you use it because the black is easier to look at in the middle of the night in a dark room? :p

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7300403.stmHere's an article that explains it in a little more detail.</a>

PS. And since I seem to be on a role with finding this stuff, this http://www.earthhour.org/global movement</a> just wants you to turn off your lights for an hour.

  2. It's only true if you're using an old, clunky, CRT monitor (which I hope no one is). :]

And... it looks like that article you linked says the exact same thing, lol. I wouldn't use it personally. I can't even use my laptop in a dark room because I've got some sort of light sensitivity. I always need at least one other light source.

  3. seems like a good idea, but yeah, not totally functionable. good to know people are trying though. :3

  4. lol nice its a shame that i need the light to see the keys lol. still when im on a mac i invert the screen anyway ^_^ google in black it nice lol

  5. Ohhh, inverted screen, interesting.

Overall it seems like they were a few years behind, but yeah, I agree that it's nice to hear that people are thinking about it.

  6. It's like a new skin for google!

*sets Blackle to Home Page instead of Google*

  7. Why do I get the feeling someone is making money off of this?

Also, I have to say, I resent the references to "Global Warming."--can't we get over that now that it's... y'know... over?

  8. Global warming is pretty much continuous; we can start it all over again thatÂ’s why we should watch ourselves.
