Place: just outside a small shelter in the center of the city Cathera Randinbore wearing power suit and a coat Tria, 81382 Cathera paced menecingly. He had a team report they made a huge find, just as the rain got on an exposed circut inside the central comm unit. this team was on its way back to camp and should've in fact been back by now. Cathera was getting worried. So he started cleaning his gun. He glanced up at the calender right after another clock check. It had only been five minuts. The calender had a red circle on today, something important was going down. Cathera slapped his head. His new sight director was coming today after the last one left out of disgust and boredom. Cathera worked security and didn't have that problem from all of the things trying to creep into camp. Luckily none of those things wore bulletproof armor.
Who: Fautal Vliemd Wearing: Cargo pants and a grey t-shirt. IC: Fautal was now in a jeep-like vehicle looking around at the architecture that was in the city. He also noted the layout of the area for planning purposes and so that he didn't get lost in this area. When he recieved the call to come into this site he was rather amused as to why the previous site director had left. That one had probably been new to the job. Archaeology isn't something that usually had exciting things happen all in one day. You had to have patience for this sort of thing. Fautal was interested in these ruins, he wanted to help find out what exactly happened here. He also wanted to know how the previous inhabitants of the city lived and what their general day would have been like. He also hoped to find artifacts in this city that hold power to amplify the user's magical ability. This would help to aid him in his battle agains Xavius. Fatual drove past a corner and into the camp that was set up for the dig. He slowed down and got out of the jeep and went towards what he thought was the planning tent. When he got in he saw an arden that he did not expect. His first impression of the arden was that of him thinking that this one was more machine than pendragon. Oh well, he thought to himself. He then asked, "Is this the planning tent? If this is, would you be able to show me where the dig site is so that I can get an idea of how much work is to be done." He looked around for a second before looking back to the arden that was in the room with him, "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Fautal, the new site director." Fautal reached out a hand to shake the arden's hand.
OC: by god, you even read Cathera's profile <=) (sniff). I read Fautal's too. IC: Cathera let out a heavy sigh. "Thank god your here, the old guy left five hours ago and dig team twenty-seven reported a find about fifteen minuts ago. The com's all shorted out and I'm not allowed to go check it out unless they can get a runner up here and request my assistance. Oh! Sorry, I'm Cathera." He stretched out a claw from his suit in greeting, remembered how unsettling that is to some, and stuck his real hand out instead.
OOC: I happen to do that because of the fact that it makes my posting a whole lot better. I made the mistake of not doing that once and it turned out embarrassing. IC: Fautal shook Cathera's hand. "That's too bad. Might as well go to check out the com then. Since I'm here you don't need a runner. After that could you show me where dig team twenty-seven is?"
Cathera pulled a map out of the tent. "Sure, you need to get to the giant domed bui-, excuse me," Cathera reached over to the side and put a shell through a small fire beatle. "Sorry," Cathera sighed, "Those things are really annoying. Head to the giant domed building and follow the markers. If you don't get to the right place one of the workers will show yo- DANM IT!" He shot another beatle headed their way. "Little basterds don't bother our supplies, just us. Y'know what? I think I'll just go with you. You havn't seen what those things can do to flesh and fur and that's the way I want it to stay." He set off at a slow trot towards the dig site.
Fautal followed. "It's alright. I have seen my fair share of wild beasts and vicious bugs to know that some of them are lethal to other 'dragons. I consider it as part of my job to make sure that everyone on the site is safe. The one thing that I hate most of all is some bandits trying to come into the site and steal off some of the artifacts we find to sell for a higher price than they're worth."
"We havn't had any scavengers yet, but they'll come eventully, I'm sure," Replied Cathera. " Ah, here we-" He stopped short at the sight ahead of him. Where dig team twenties site was there was now a large prple dome. It was glowing. "What in Fronima is that!?" Cathera cried.
"I haven't the slightest idea." Fautal said wide eyed. This was the kind of stuff that he wanted to be doing he remembered that was the reason he got into archaeology in the first place, to discover history. "You want to go check it out?" He said. Fautal then went in the direction of the dome. Fautal went over towards the nearest 'dragon, this one was a gray arden. "What is this?" Fautal asked. The arden responded, "We don't know just yet. We found this just recently."
Cathera was stunned, he just sat there for a minute, processing. Suddenly, he snapped back to reality. " Were any of you hurt?" he demanded. "No," The arden said, "we just finished packing up ou find to come show it to the guys back at camp, then this appeard on the spot we found this stone." He showed them a large purple rock....
"Give it to me please." Fautal said. The arden gave him the purple rock. Fautal could feel energies flowing through it. He thought that this may have been used to power some ancient machina. He examined it some more and he expressed his thoughts to Cathera. "I think this may power some ancient machina. Maybe even this purple dome that we see here. I don't know, what do you think?" He tossed it to Cathera.
Cathera used a power claw to quickly snatch it and set it down, then he backed slowly away. "If you're right I think we shouldn't toss it around!" He said, looking a little scared.
Fautal chuckled for a moment and then said, "I don't think that the person who used this would chose such an unstable power source if it were to suddenly explode if it was tossed around a little." He then looked up at the dome and asked the arden, "Does this dome have an entrance?"
The arden nodded. "We found it just on the other side, c'mon, let me show you," the arden ran off to the other side. Cathera gave Fautil a doubtful glance and ran after him.
Fautal followed the arden around the dome to what appeared to be the entrance to the place. He started to go inside out of curiosity. "I wouldn't do that sir," the arden said. "Why not?" Fautal asked. "None of us have actually been in there and we don't know what may happen if anyone went inside." Fautal just smiled back, "I'll be alright. I've been in some pretty tough situations. I don't think this would be of any danger." He looked back at Cathera and said, "Care to join me? I just plan on taking a look inside."
Mumbling to himself, Cathera pulled out his pistol and racked the slide. "C'mon," he groweld, "lets go into big scary purple dome thing," with a voice full of mocking. "While were at it, why don't we kick ourselves in the heads?" with that he walked regretfully into the structure.........
As Fautal went into the dome he saw that it was very large inside it. "This certainly is a big, round, room..." He said as he was inspecting the inside. He noticed Cathera had followed him in. As he saw this the door behind them closed suddenly behind them. Fautal quickly went over to the door. "Looks like we won't be getting out easily. Stand back," Fautal said. He then went in front of the door, about thirty or so feet away, and then cast a spell that wold hopefully blast the door open. The spell then hit the doorway and caused a great deal of noise and a shockwave that went towards both himself and Cathera. "We have to find another way out," Fautal said.
Cathera picked himself back up off the ground. "Naw, ya think?" he said, voice dripping with sarcasm. He scanned the room, looking for the other arden who showed them in, he was gone. "I think that rock he gave you probably does something. try touching it to the wall," he said. He then took another step away from the wall to watch what happend, just as a strange, black, furry winged, thing, appeard in the air in the center of the dome, then vanished again. Cathera had just finished the lightning fast draw of his pistol when it poofed back out of reality.
Fautal saw what happened, but the instant he saw the thing it was gone. "This could prove to be a little more dangerous than I had originally anticipated. We'd better not drop our guard," Fautal said, "Perhaps you are right about the stone. Let's test that theory." Fautal then went over to the wall with the stone in hand. He then touched it directly against the wall. The door they had come through groaned in response. It sounded as if it wanted to open but it could not. Fautal then walked towards the other end of the room hoping that he'd have better luck there. He pressed the stone against the wall and again that groaning noise came. A door opened. "Shall we?" Faual asked.
Cathera saw a bright light that the rain didn't allow the sun to acount for if this door led outside. He took a deep breath, aand went though the door, pistol drawn.
Fautal was walking down a long hallway not sure of what to expect next. He kept his own guard up so that he wasn't caught unable to defend himself. As he walked he talked with Cathera, "What do you suppose that thing was back there?"
