Nyymbatta (nim-bah'ta) appears primarily as a female, and is most frequently referred to using the pronouns 'her' and 'she'. However, as an extremely powerful shapeshifter, she is prone to taking on complimentary male (or otherwise!) forms of herself or creating a general look of androgyny -- her true sex is a complete and utter question, although most people have assumed her to be female. The scope of change to which she undertakes her modifications vary, although for sake of ease in her daily life, she abides to her foundational appearance as a stereotypical Anubi.
But, what have you, the stereotypical Anubi varies!
Thus! She is long-legged and slender, although not breath-takingly tall and most mildly curved. Complimenting the usual deadpan, slightly a'drift, expression are her sharp, angular facial features. Her high cheekbones are a play on an appearance of agelessness, but so defiantly aged is a smirk too jaded for her youthful exterior. Overtop all that is a blanket of short-haired sable fur, sleek but with natural "imperfections" of threaded silver and grey.
Her eyes are an amiably warm amber. Her tail is whip-like and long. Her hair is thin and while it's a touch darker than the shadowy hue of her coat, laughing strands of gold have been braided into the mix. A waterfall of that reaches to the tops of her bottom, it most usually hangs in a messy bun between two towering pinnacle ears. If one looks closely enough, they'll be able to see the fleas with tiny ski poles... I'm just kidding. Really, I'm just kidding. Don't get angry. Although she's not painstakingly beautiful, Nyym has a quiet charisma to her. Perhaps it is in the play of her coy smile, the soft murmur of her laughter, or the hum of warmth in her voice that is the attraction. Whatever it is, she's had great success in moving fluidly through social circles in her life...
She is, however, not even in the slightest regard a social butterfly. Although well-acquainted, Nyym is faithful to close friends and makes few, but strong, loving bonds. A select number of family and friends know anything intimate about Nyym... for the most part, she is fairly mysterious with her life beyond the usual surface scratch.
Despite her unusual love of shapeshifting, Nyym leads, upfront, a very normal life. She is a strong student and academic, and works a job at a cafe to cover her average spending. Beneath this facade, however, are the lurkings of a shadow in the underworld, so to speak.
However, Nyym has been, on countless occasions, criticized for being distant. While warm in character, she is vigilant about keeping the greater details of her life behind doors. For what reason, pray tell? Although Nyym was actually born some twenty years ago her age is a complicated issue. She is, as a matter of fact, a product of repeated rebirth and thus, her age is a very indefinite thing. Keeping this information in mind, it's not hard to understand why at such a young age she beholds her trades with such unprecedented tact.
That said, Nyymbatta's history is long. I plan on elaborating the years closest to her present birth soon. (:
I know this is not the best representation of my writing, but Nyym has come to me as a great character idea. And, admittedly, I named her after Moon Unit, Frank Zappa's daughter. I adore the name.
