    Name Pronunciation: More-rain-nettle

Occupation Description: Given that her one and only magic ability is to enchant objects with magical properties, and her favorite pass time is to mark people with ink, Morainettel has combined her skills. Her tattoos are known for protection charms, and healing properties, when she gets help from her associates; she has a booming business, called Ink Charms.

    Appearance

Fur: Morain's base coat is pure white, but overlaying that is a plethora of color--all shades of green, orange, blue, yellow, purple, pink and even chestnut brown. It's rather hard to look at her, as her fur seems ever-changing; you never see the patches of color in the same spot twice. She has a mop of black hair, cut short in a spikey pixie cut.  She has three black spots, varying from small to large, running under her eyes from one corner to the other across her cheekbones, with the largest beside the outer corner of her eyes. The spots appear again on her arms, the largest on the back of her hand and the dots slowly growing smaller as they curl around her arm, the smallest located on the inside of her elbow. Despite her job as a tattoo artist, she has no tattoos of her own.

Body: Morainettel is small and delicate, standing at only about 5'3, and being very slim, besides. She is fashioned very much like an anthropomorphic fox, with a small, thickly furred face and a long, slim muzzle. She has overly-tall ears, also fashioned like a vulpine, and three thick, bushy tails. Along her spine from the base of her skull to the base of her tail, short bone spikes poke out of her fur, getting longer as they head toward the middle of her back and then shorter again as they move toward her tail. The longest spike is in the very center of her back; all of these have been painted black. The spikes begin again on her forehead, getting smaller as they run down her muzzle to just before her nose. These were allowed to remain white; they didn't need the sensitivity-protection the ones on her back did.

Clothes & Movement: The only clothing Morain wears is a thin silk-cotton blend poet's shirt, which is three sizes too big and hangs to her knees, the v-neck collar slashed open to her belly rather than the acceptable cut to her collarbone. The sleeves are usually rolled and pinned up to her upper arms, so her hands are free to work. Within her shop, with people she knows or with someone she knows is a customer, Morain moves with smooth confidance, sure of what she's doing and what needs to be done in the future. Around strangers, or out on her own in the city, however, Morainettel skuttles about with her head down and her back hunched, attempting to hide from the world. Most of the time, it seems to work.

Voice: Morain's voice is usually very quiet and soft, and she has the most polite way of ordering people around you'll ever see.

    Personality

Morain isn't the kind of girl to take advantage of anyone. She's more of a naive little girl than a full-grown woman; many people have gotten away with scamming her because she just doesn't understand what it is they're doing, though many times they come back and tell her what they've done--she's too "oblivious and cute" for them not to feel bad about it. She made some of her best friends by having them attempt to steal from her, or pay her less than what her skills are worth. It's a good thing she believes in second chances, or she wouldn't have any friends. Morainettel is also extremely shy, and often times can't deal with customers herself unless the co-owner of her shop talks to them first.

    History

Morain was born in Aurius, in one of the big, bright cities under the sea. As a little niotie, Morain was bright and adventurous, wishing to see all the buildings in the city and all the people who lived and worked in them. She had a habit of running away from her father, who was really the only protection she had from strangers, and because clothes quite often irritated the bone spikes that were then only just growing in, Morainettel often stripped them off and ran around in the buff.

At nine, Morain learned the big, bright city had a dark side. She'd run off again, and taken off the loose dress her father had attempted for the day--loose clothes were, somehow, worse than tight ones, when it came to her growths--when she ran into a group of older boys. They chased her into an alley, frightening her quite badly, and had only just caught her when her father found them. Nothing happened, aside from a few shouted insults and groping hands, but it terrified Morain into obedience; when they went out, she didn't leave her father's side, and she didn't complain when the clothes brushed against the sensitive bone spikes and sent tingles of pain through her spine. Her father came up with the brilliant idea to paint the spikes in thick coats of color, so that they were encased in a shell of sorts; Morain agreed, and they had them painted black at a specialty tattoo shop.

Morain fell in love with the art as she watched the customer next to them get a tattoo. When the painting of her spikes was done and she was told to wait for them to dry, she went over to get a closer look, and got some joking tips that the tattoo artist had no idea she would take seriously. As she got older, Maironettel went to tattoo shops more and more. Her father, a somewhat wealthy and hard-working 'dragon, got her a shop of her own for her twentieth birthday, and set her up with all the equipment she would need. After a year struggling in the business, Morain had her own brilliant idea; she'd been practicing enchanting in private all her life, and people always wanted talismans to protect and heal; but a talisman could be lost. Why not have one that was written into the skin and the fur, a permanent one?

And so was born Ink Charms; business began booming, and in another year Morain had paid her father back for everything he'd done for her, with interest. It wasn't long before the dark side of the city showed itself to her again, in the form of an arden only a few years older than she was; he'd broken into her shop and stolen all her equipment, but only a few days later he returned it, with no real reason behind his actions. Morain believes to this day that he simply wanted her attention; but she has no proof, so she doesn't say anything. He's since become her best friend, and they run the shop together; he's a more skilled artist than herself.

    Where They Are Now:

With the ban on magick and her enchants frequently going haywire, Ink Charms has gone out of business for anyone but the very desperate, And, with the destruction of Aurius and her equipment, Morain and her friends and coworkers have moved to Bhim, where their occasionally illegal work won't be noticed. Morainettel, naturally, doesn't go out often.
