New Game Plus (NG+) Levels
In more traditional roleplaying video games, “New Game Plus” is a term used to describe a special unlockable video game mode. Usually this gameplay mode becomes available when the player starts a new game after they have successfully completed the video game at least once. Generally the experience and items that you gained in previous playthroughs directly affect your New Game Plus mode.
Similarly, Shadowlack utilizes unlockable New Game Plus (NG+) modes. However, since Shadowlack is open-ended unlike traditional roleplaying games, it is not possible to “complete” an entire game playthrough. Instead, each New Game Plus level is obtained by completing and passing a short multiple choice quiz. Every time that you successfully pass a New Game Plus Quiz, you will go up a NG+ Level. Each new level will unlock more account features and allow you to access new parts of the site.
The purpose of the New Game Plus quizzes are to ensure that players are familiar with the Shadowlack world and its inner workings. The New Game Plus quizzes also scale in difficulty. Lower level quizzes are meant to introduce new players to the world, and higher level quizzes are meant to challenge long term players with obscure bits of world trivia.
It is forbidden to share New Game Plus Quiz answers with other players. If someone asks you for assistance, you may tell them where to look for the answer (Codex, Guides, Rules, FAQ, etc.), but you may not give them the answer directly.
Obtaining Your First New Game Plus Level
Worry not! Everything that you need to know to pass your very first New Game Plus Quiz may be found in the Guides section of the site. If you read over the Guides and familiarize yourself with Shadowlack, you should have no trouble at all passing. The NG+ Quiz 1 is designed to make sure that new players a) know the rules to the game and b) are familiar with the game's general setting and mechanics. None of the quiz answers you are seeking will be found in any of the Advanced Player Guides.
You can continue to retake any NG+ Quiz until you pass. Any failures will not be counted against you and none of the quizzes have time limits. All of the quizzes are also “open book”. You are completely free to keep two (or more) tabs open while taking the Quiz to check your answers before submitting them.
Keep in mind though that you must pass the first Quiz in order to obtain access to the roleplay boards and use the live chat room. If something is unclear, or if you happen to have any questions (that aren't related to the quiz), please post them in Hatchling Central. Good luck!
Obtaining Subsequent New Game Plus Levels
While not necessary to roleplay at Shadowlack, each subsequent NG+ Level will add more features and privileges to your account. The quizzes increase in difficultly and will more than likely have you hunting blindly around in the Codex for trivia. They're meant to potentially frustrate you, so keep your cool and try not to handle them like a gaukh. (Apparently calling Iversia a Pet Rapine in the chat room is good for relieving NG+ induced stress.)
